Do you guys have the same problem as me? Or is it my settings that are wrong?
I only seem to have the elapsed time of my rides, which take into account stops on traffic lights and others and there is no more average moving speed, which was far more realistic for an average speeds.
I don't really mind but I've been comparing the data of the same routes etc, but now there is nothing I would do. The elapsed time is sometimes very wrong as I almost always seem to end the ride long time after I actually stop riding etc (because I'm quite new to these garmin things and I forget)
And by the way, what do you use to keep the record of training rides etc? I've tried Golden Cheetah, which I didn't like (probably to complicated) and Strava which is not bad, but less clear than Garmin Connect from my experience.

I don't know about the 'connect' side, but on my Edge 500 I had 'elapsed time' displayed on one of the screens which I noticed continued even when I'd stopped the timer at the end of a ride.
Looking through the manual I realised this needed to be set to 'time', which isn't as you'd expect it to be i.e. time of day, as that's another option, 'time of day'.
I think I've just confused myself ! :oops:Wind. Cold. Rain. Pick two.0 -

I just noticed that as well. Why mess with it when it was working perfectly fine!?Scott Foil - viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=129827790

They have changed things http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/GarminIn ... pause.html
I never quite understood the time and moving time as they were very similar.
I thing you should just be looking at time, not elapsed time.0 -
I thought it had just disappeared because i have my unit set to stop when stationary so the two average speeds are usually the same (or .1 out)
Seems a strange idea to change it across the site, i would imagine everyone that has the gps logging on even when stopped would want to see the average moving speed.0 -

Thanks for that link. Actually that's in a way better now as I can set the speed, which would not count when e.g. approaching light stops etc. I always try not to stop, so I don't have to clip out/in again and again, resulting in couple of mins at that 3-5km/h So in a way is better, but I think they made even more confusion than they tried to solve and we have to live with it.

That's crap. Auto pause is a bad idea if you use a power meter. You'd have thought that a company that is about to launch a power meter would know that.
So they remove it because people are too stupid to understand what moving time means?
Not that Garmin Connect is good for anything really, but they've removed something 'useful' for power meter users and added a new and completely redundant power metric. Great.More problems but still living....0 -

I didn't think about that issue, mostly because I've never used a powermeter... but if the time comes then that would be a big disadvantage too!! :x
I just cannot understand it got removed as it was only one line of additional info, someone could simply ignore if it's not comprehensive enough... I'm sure people get more confused with different stuff there and if they are really that dumb then they should just stick to simplest cycle computers and garmin doesn't apply there. I thought the devices are created for more experienced riders/runners etc.0 -
This has pissed me off!!!! I liked seeing the moving time.0

John.T wrote:I don't see any problem. I don't use a power meter so have auto pause set to 'when stopped'. On the 'timing' section of Connect I get 'time' which is the actual moving time and 'elapsed time' which is the total duration including stops.
Thanks for that, John. I just ordered a 500 today and was a little worried by this thread. Not worried now though, I was going to ask the exact question you've managed to answer in advance, so, cheers!0 -
Yes a rather stupid decision - but hey its Garmin still buggering about with power users. They start to sort their house out and you think finally they are getting it and then they just show their ignorance again :shock:0

Seems Garmin got a load of complaints about removing the Moving Time, and as a result it will return in April:Garmin Connect Blog wrote:Thank you for all of the feedback regarding the recent removal of Moving Time from Garmin Connect. While the switch was done with the best intentions of clearing up confusion that we’d heard about from some customers, it’s very clear that the information provided by this data was very valuable to many of you. We appreciate all of the responses we’ve received, and we’ll be reinstating Moving Time in the next update that will roll out the first week of April. Moving Time data will again be viewable in your previous activities as well as those you’ve done since the recent change. We apologize for any additional confusion or frustration that these changes may have caused, as our goal was just the opposite. Thank you again for the valuable feedback!
