1 BB removal tools is the same for both isis and octalink... maybe that is adding to the confusion?

mine will as i put it in a lathe to "fix" it. the ISIS tool will fit both. (NB genuine Shimano tool).

My BB tool (from my Lidl £26 set - hey nothing's broke yet!) will fit Shimano (square and Octalink) as well as other JIS square taper, along with ISIS and Powerspline....removed and or refitted all of them.Maybe the genuine Shimano tool is a tighter fit into the Shimano and won't fit the others.
I think the Op's been listening to Bjork (It's oh so quiet).......
