No, but I had the 2nd quickest time up a climb out of about 20 times. Nothing impressive there then. Apart from the fact that I stopped for a lengthy pee half way up!
More problems but still living....

So I'm pretty pleased with http://app.strava.com/segments/staple-lane-628859 okay I'm 4th, but the guy in 3rd was on my wheel for all but the last part of it, and the guys in 1st and 2nd had a UCI pro race in front of them pulling them along... Unfortunately I'm so far out of that shape now it's kind of depressing to even look.Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0

Started using Strava a few weeks ago, got to say it really does make you push that little bit harder! Competing on the climbs, technical descents and fire road sprints on my local trails when out riding solo. Now KOM on a few sections from last weeks ride in the snow, hope to get out again now the white stuff is melting and get my times down http://app.strava.com/segments/816630Scott Speedster S40

Theres one KOM ive got which i did on a 40 mile ride, about 70m of climb and around 14% max grade, i.d planned to take a gel at the halfway mark as there were a lot of short sharp hills, but i forgot and on this hill i had a mini bonk and nearly stopped, managed to grovel up in my granny ring, out of the saddle in 30x25, so i thought i,d be bottom of the pile on this hill, but as of now i,m still top out of 8 riders.0

I don't have a GPS device, and so I haven't signed up to Strava, but I'd like to see how others are doing on my hills. Is going through the list of regions the only way to find climbs/segments? There seem to be a lot of duplicate placenames.0

its easier to find climbs and segments once you sign up0 -
Quite a few up the Downs round here in Kent.
Managed to get up Hollingbourne Hill a while back. Very pleased just to have made it! Have had a look at the times and I'm not quite at the bottom. There's still unfinished business there....
To be honest I'm not worried about my ranking. If TdF went up there with Strava then I'd be 100th! But I like how Strava records a particular bit, so even if the ride there has some delays, I can still see if I can beat my own time. And comparing against yourself is the important bit (apologies to pros and those who want to be).Giant TCR2 and lovin it!

It quite often catches me out... I upload a ride and find I've ridden a segment that I hadn't realised was there... I look at my ranking/time and think "I can do better than that" so next time....
Great fun although it sometimes makes for a bit of an unbalanced ride if you're going out with the intention of keeping the effort fairly constant.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

I like the ones that happened when I had no idea Strava existed so I took a little 'rest' during the segment -
http://app.strava.com/segments/902126 - 21 seconds rest and 1mph to spare
http://app.strava.com/segments/961784 - 17 seconds rest and after 92 miles - ex Rapha pro Tom Southam, on his way to the shops, makes an appearance in second place0 -
The VAM number's quiet interesting. You don't allways know when your doing a segment, esp if your riding a new area.Good fun loading a ride&seeing if you've ridden any segments&how you've faired.Surprising how familiar names pop up even when your hundreds of miles from home.
I was quiet pleased with this one not KOM but not to shabby for me.http://app.strava.com/activities/4159030#77321172TT photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/steverob/0 -
I find the calculated watts funny on strava lol, 280 odd for a 16-17 min on a local hill and then on a 25 TT according to strava im putting out 550 watts for 53 minutes lol10 mile TT pb - 20:56 R10/17

I'm quite pleased with my Box Hill effort, ok so it's only 36th but that is out of 709 (set riding solo in August 2011), but not too bad considering that I got married in June that year and had barely ridden/trained. Also given that I don't race etc.
Mind you, I look at some of the times and just cannot imagine getting anywhere close. Would love to get down to 6:10 or so though.- 2023 Vielo V+1

Il Principe, Box Hill at the fast end is quite sensitive to drafting, so there's quite a few people there which weren't solo rides (we're not talking minutes saved by drafting, but certainly 20-30seconds is possible - although only if you had someone to draft the whole length - and then they'd be fast. If you catch people or pass people going hard on just part of it you can be helped) And one of the top 10 of course is from the Olympic road race.
Depending on the wind direction when you did your time too, if it wasn't a north westerly on a warm day you could certainly get your 6:10 just from that, conditions make quite a difference.Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -
I got another KoM today on a stretch of road that I'm the only one to log a time onI've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Redvee,
some segments there that I was unfamiliar with, I'll be a hunting them out now although the gradients seem to be massively flawed.Allez Triple (hairy with mudguards) - FCN 4

jibberjim you've got some high positions on "climbs" near me. Did you used to live near Bedford/MK or have you raced around here in the past.0

I've done one race up there, and visited a few times watching womens races (which seem disproportionately common around there) and I tend to always ride up hills hard if they're in front of me.Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -

Ah ok. I think the 2 days of Bedford race makes it look disproportionate, although I think we also had the Central/Eastern Champs around here too this year - but maybe that's disproportionate compared to other areas.0 -
I've got a few but all urban commute segments, most are either very short or largely down to rub of the green with traffic / lights. This is probably the pick of them - decent length climb (for London) and one that I did flat out on the best bike:
