Apparently it rides almost exactly like an Orange 5... can't see why it would, as it is a completely new bike
Also, here is the 2012 Five... nice new colour apparently..

Is it just me or does the whole bike look like its sagging in the middle?
i keep writing things then deleting them, i just cant get the words out to describe my feelings about this............this 50 -
some more photos and infoDespite being labelled under the company’s Strange tag, which it saves for new models and prototypes, it’s clearly based on a Five. And it looks pretty advanced to us.
Travel is 100mm at the back and 120mm up front, head angle is 70 or thereabouts and it’s said to have a very similar feel to that of the standard 26in Five. We can’t wait to try it out.
HT on the cards too?0 -
Also that road bike in the background is fucking ugly...

The 29er might well work, but it's properly fugly isn't it. I'd like a go, after all I own an Ellsworth, can't be any more shameful can it?
The Carb-o was designed to "test the water" apparently. The water being tested obviously being "How much extra will fanboys pay for a generic far eastern bike if it has an Orange sticker on it".Uncompromising extremist0 -
I can't help thinking some people are just complaining because it's an Orange.... Looks alright to me, doesn't look half as fugly as some 29ers out there.0

I think they mean it's been advance in the process of going from prototype to production model0 -
Tbh it dosent look to bad ( ish) still think the Santa cruz tallboy is the best looking fs 29 though.....When you go to the ground you are in my world. My world is the ocean. I am the shark and most people don't know how to swim0

All Orange bikes with the exception of the new Patriot are fugly but that 29er is just plain offensive. Why would anyone spend £2.5k+ on something which looks so horrible? Also if it handles like a five then why bother? why not just buy a five?
Wonder if it will sound like a cutlery tray being thrown down the trail like all other full sus Orange bikes?
Instead of blowing cash on developing this hideously monstrosity they could have spent some cash on making their existing bikes look nicer & stop them rattling like a sack of spanners.
To be fair though the road bike looks like every other road bike.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I love BikeRadar for all the 29er haters
Will all of those who are slagging them off be saying that
1) Once they have actually ridden one or two of them?
2) Be saying that in 2 or 3 years time?0 -

The looks don't offend me - the weight and price does.0

I don't like 29er's. Tried a couple & don't like the way the steer compared to 26" wheels, just couldn't throw them around as well as a similar 26" wheeled bike, personally I didn't see the advantages. Not everyone rides like I do & plenty of people wouldn't like my bike with it's 31lb weight & 170mm of coil sprung goodness.
With this particular 29er it's the way it looks and it's price which offend me. I's like a five but even uglier.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I don't mind the way the 5 looks, and I quite like those I've ridden.
I dislike the price.0 -
i dislike the 5 with immense hatred, its over-priced, over-weight, over-fugly and over common... and imo it just plain sucks to ride, heavy, unresponsive... boring springs to mind, but thats being kind...0
-
The 29er will be even more expensive & un-responsive. Prices seem to go up a lot when a model gets 29" wheels. I guess thats to pay for the tooling which will be redundant when 29ers go back out of fashionTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

I've been riding and owning 29ers since 2007 and they aren't going to go out of fashion they are hear to stay.
The only 26er I'd concider woud be a Five after riding a few, so now it's coming out in a 29er I can't wait for a test ride. So if Orange are reading this and want to give me a 29er frame to review I'll happily swap it over with my Rumblefish frame.0 -
Well, if you want some nostalgia...
I'm not knocking Guy Martin though, he does have some wise words + he is on some natural form of speed.0
