Yes, you would notice the difference. Air shocks just can't keep up on rough ground. Same with forks as well.

OK, hear what your saying, but as an "all mountain" bike, ie not just going down, what in your opinion then is the best all round shock?
Be intersting to have a go on a bike with a coil rear...0 -

First choice would be ccdb with a ti spring to save on wieght. Otherwise I hear the monarch plus is very good. Or any air can which is custom tuned would be a big improvement over factory setup.
Theres a ccdb air on its way so that will be interesting to see...0 -

The frame makes more difference than the shock. My Reign X with a Fox Van R (basic, no pro-pedal) coil shock climbs better than an Enduro with a air shock.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
