Gaucho for me is overrated and over prices and very in consistent.

it's a chain, you're getting different chefs trained by different people, that's how it's going to me

The Bleeding Heart is ok I'm generally a little disappointed when veering away from steak there. I do like the food they serve in the private rooms upstairs though ;)

    I said restaurant uniform

But they don't wear restaurant uniform in Hawksmoor do they? Unless Folk is their uniform.

Bleeding Heart is proper old school... but if you want proper old school it has to be EVERY TIME - Rules.

Recommended this place in the restaurant thread the other day

SW, very very good and not silly expensive.

Is that the place where they were very close to winning that Gordon Ramsey F Word thing a couple of years back? If so they looked fantastic, but I remember reading some iffy revues of them afterwards. Good to hear they are worth a go.

That's the one. I ate there three or four times before it was on Ramsay and once afterwards (about a year ago) and it was always very good. The menu is a bit limited in terms of non-steak options but given that it is a steak place I dont see that as an issue! As I said on the other thread its a neighbourhood restaurant so its more relaxed than a "fine dining" place.

Lived within walking distance of popeseye (if you mean the one on URR) for 7 years but managed to not visit it once [facepalm].

Kew Grill does an amazing steak (and the salt and pepper squid to start with is excellent). It is one of Anthony Worrell Thompson's gaffs. Assume that the meat isn't robbed from Tesco's.
  • The beef dripping chips at Hawksmoor are also excellent.

I went with a couple of friends and shared 1.2kg of chateaubriand. It was absolutely gorgeous. Hmmm... now I want steak

I really enjoyed Maze Grill, although it's a while since I've been.

This is meant to be very good and not too dear. I used to live near a place ran by the same crowd which was very good: http://garufa.co.uk/

That place is nice. They do a stonking breakfast too (a Bloody Mary is a cracking start to a day!)
