I hear the new devolved Scottish Civil Service will consist of three - one that can read, one that can write and one that hangs out with intellectuals

Ahhh so no one told you then. Budget contstraints demanded a 50% reduction in the armed forces. The second man had to be made redundant.

Oh and Devon County Council and the Monks of Buckfast Abbey decided to place sanctions on Scotland after recieving word the Campbell Clan stole the lands of the Bawdon Clan in the 17th Century and banished them South of the boarder....so no more Buckie heading north of the boarder

PS....we want our land back dammit

Mad isn't it. One bible per school. I'm sure most schools could already get hold of a single bible if they wanted one. The Gideons came to our school and gave everyone one for free!

He needs a private sponsor apparently.

    The King Jameson's Bible.

And the Lord said "Let there be the cool, crisp taste of Coors Light".

But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning. For she had not bought a Screamwell rape alarm.

    Him and Osbourne - useless.

What I don't understand is how a cabinet lead by a PR man can allow this stuff to happen. Unless he meant for it to come out, and he supports it? Or they're testing the waters for something? I'm perplexed...

David Cameron told Gove that while he supported the idea, the education secretary should avoid using taxpayers' money for it

If the education secretary can't get someone to help him hand out a few bibles, it kind of shows up the Big Society pollocks for what it is.

    Indeed, it's bonkers.

But then Blair allowed Prescott, Mandleson, Brown, Balls, Blears, the Harthing, Smith etc all to hold senior positions and all of them are PR disasters of the highest imaginable order. And Blair was the king PR man.

    Wehay.

Don't hate the player, hate the game!

I argue against too much unregulated free-marketism, but if it's about, I'll make the most of it, and still say the game should be changed.

It's like footballers. They all say they should get rid of diving, but when they don't go down in the box, they don't do as well. So they'll keep diving, whilst saying they shouldn't have to ;).

In this situation, it was totally beyond my control, even indirectly.

That, of course, being ludicrous hypocricy.

Anwyay, last time we did this chat you promised to throw money at me on my bike. Where is it? It's my right you know, I know what I'm entitled to/deserve. Give me some of your money, I need a more extensive Sky package. :P

Pretty damning that some school libraries don't already have a copy of a book that has had such a significant influence on the English speaking world.

Well quite and the whole thing is on the web anyway. If you think the 400th anniversary of the KJB is worth marking, then surely you need to do more than just drop a new copy off at each school library.

Yep, he wanted his own passage at the start of the book.

I can't believe there are many (any?!) schools that either don't have a Bible, or couldn't get one in a few days by asking for one from their local church or the Gideons.

Frankly, we can probably do without it setting an example to our children!
