Mine is currently 40BPM
Dhope is claiming 37 (but he's a liar). I think he has transposed the numbers.

Lowest I've seen on my HRM is 51, used to be in the Mid 60s and its coming down rapidly with Ironman training.

But its apples and oranges when it comes to comparing.

Under what conditions? Resting after a good nights sleep? Mines about 50-52 normally.

More importantly how fast does it recover from 90% stress..

Just been for an NHS health check this morning and mine was 60. Not bad I suppose given I'm not commuting regularly these days. what's the 'average'?

    Indurain's lowest ever was 28bpm.

Now assume a) he was a physical anomaly and b) his blood was as thick as toothpaste, c) he was pretty fit.

    anything around 1bps is low.

We were taught at school that some people, whatever their condition, have naturally higher rates..

The range we were given was 60-100bpm.

My record of 38 was in a hospital when I was getting checked over for a suspected broken collar bone. I was given the all-clear and prescribed a dose of MTFU. My current 40 is sat in front of a PC and listening to Radio 4.
I seem to recover quite quickly, but I've never been tested properly.

Dhope says his was taken when he had just woken up. Probably after his morning hit of opium.

Currently sat at work :( and it's 52 :) happy about that as I am neither fit or super-human.

Change channel, it should be Jeremy Vine soon - when I hit that by accident I quite often get to well over a hundred and twenty.

  • 48 at rest have seen 44 monging out in front of TV.

Peaked @ 142 on top of the hill coasted down and 78 bpm 1.5 minutes later. Bit of peddlaing and coasting and traffic lights 58 bpm @ 4 minutes after peak

Mine is around 60-65 and is also - as Rick was taught as school - naturally high. I had ECG scans when I was 16yrs old because - as I was been assessed while having Pleurisy - the Dr was alarmed by how prominent he could hear my heartbeat and thought he had detected a murmur. All clear and attributed to having a naturally high-beating cardio system.

I had another ECG in September as it happens because I was suffering palpatations regularly. Naturally worried... but as soon as the Dr says "A OK", it's funny how the symptoms quietten down. Never underestimate the power of the mind!

Recent stuff via Garmin and iPhone...

37 this morning before getting out of bed. This is the lowest I've seen it, but then the first time I've checked in the morning.
44 last night before going to bed.
52 at the moment while sat at my desk for the last hour with a few coffees.
60 in the middle of the day some time last week.
90 a few mins after the commute in last week.
165 at one point doing a few laps of RP over the weekend.
Goes a fair bit higher if running I think.

Seems my entire family on one side has one time or another had concern for a high resting heart rate, only to find that it was not a problem.

Grandfather was an ex-footballer (got called up for the national team), mother cycles everywhere (like a real Dutchie) and does ballet.

    I'm no slouch either.

59 just sat at my desk measuring it the old fashioned way.Don't know what it does at other times.
When I was in hospital a couple of years back with a chest drain having broken my ribs they kept thinking my lung had reinflated fully because all the stats were very good, then the Xray would show that it hadn't. Apparently I was too healthy and confused them by giving better results than a man of my age should.

...mother cycles everywhere (like a real Dutchie)...

[silliness]When you are cycling with her, do you overtake her on the right, or do you pass the dutchie pon the left hand side? [/silliness]

That's the resting heart rate. When I was cycling up the Kirkstone Pass at 77mph it reached 295 once or twice.

Mid 50s for me although up around 60 at the moment as I have a bit of a sniffle. On a good day I can push it down to 48-49 with a bit of breathing.

Mine's 44 as I sit here at my desk. I took it 4 times to be sure, using various methods. That seems rather lower than I was expecting, to be honest.

~55 resting, max as experienced on a race training day in November is 191  Recovery isn't too bad but not measured the rate of decay, assuming that's something a) makes sense and b) tells you something about your fitness level. Might be interesting to dig out a trace and have a look.
