Too Many Bikes?????

So I thought I'd ask the question how many bikes do you own? The dilemma I have is I currently have four mountain bikes all of which seem to need some form of repair or something doing to them

And while they are all in a rideable state I often feel maybe I should downsize to a couple so I can spend more time riding and a bit less time having them up on the repair stand

Thoughts? :?

    One MTB
    One 'hack' old MTB
    One CX
    One road bike

The CX and road are commuters only, I'll be getting rid of the road bike.

One all-mountain SB-66 that I've so far been able to get up hills just as easily as my hardtail could. So that's been sold, despite being a real pretty thing that I rather miss owning.

Kinda fancy a simple 'winter/XC' 29er hardtail one day, but not this year. And I suppose I won't rule out getting into bigger downhill territory at some stage.

    1 Full suss
    2 hard tails
    2 commuters
A funny looking thing with drop handlebars and a saddle like a razor.

EDIT: Technically 3 hardtails, but one is going to be sold next week as new one just arrived.

As of last night, three mountain bikes (and a much neglected road bike)

Orange 5 Diva - my gorgeous custom built 'usual' weapon of choice.... Yes, yes, I know :?
Kona Minxy - more travel and indestructable for the Megavalanche (this year  )
Santa Cruz Julianna - currently a bit of an Ebay shed but soon to be transformed into something very lightweight :D

A bit extravagant, but there you go. The plan is to tweak the Santa Cruz and do all the work myself - not sure how well this plan will go, but with so many bloody bikes the maintennance is getting expensive so I figure this is the ideal opportunity to learn how to do it all myself.

One hardtail and one 100mm full suss, but feeling the need for a 140-150mm full suss now...would mind a light hardtail 29er as well...need a shed!

Seems I'm not in a minority which is kinda reassuring. Maybe it's the turn of the new year and I'm feeling like a change is needed. I've got one advertised on here for sale but now contemplating adding my Epic as well

The chances are I'd want something else once I sold them on. aHHHH decisions, decisions

Just got the one all mountain type thing which i use for everything from XC to DH. I did have two, but they were both a bit of a compromise, so now i have one very nicely specced compromise :P

Got a Boardman FS Pro and a custom build Surosa road bike, plus a Scott Yecora frame that I was going to build up but now I cant be bothered. I have just gotten rid of a really old road bike frame. Again I was going to build it up as a project but I've just not got the time.

5... Massive bike, big bike, light bike, old bike, tiny bike. Oh, and in-bits-bike.

The tiny bike - my Nyquist BMX doesn't really count, because I'll possibly never ride it again. It just hangs up in the garage and prevents me from thinking "Hey, I wish I had a BMX"- if I sold it I'd buy another and wouldn't ride that either.

    Too many bikes?

    Not possible

I have a 93 Marin that's used for commuting / trips to the park with the family
A 98 Specialized FSR that needs repairs
A 98 Scott with a broken swing arm
    An 11 Zesty

The Spesh and the Scott will become one bike sometime, with all the best bits coming off the Scott, to go on the the Spesh. I just need to get a new BB, to get the ball rolling. Problem is, any spare time I have is used for riding or bike cleaning.

I'd quite like a road bike  too, for fitness. But I'll wait til I have more spare time / retire for that.

See signature - the only thing I can possibly see changing over the next few months is to get rid of a few frames that I have lying around (original Marin Mount Vision, Yeti ASR) and perhaps get a 160-180mm all mountain bike.
