Ah this credit rating stuff is overblown.

France's last bond auction post-downgrade was cheaper than the auction before the downgrade.

Bond buyers make their own judgements re-credit nowadays.

Don't focus on the minor detail while ignoring the over-arching point.

The issue is that while Labour cannot tell us what they would do. They could be telling us how they would approach things differently.

Public sector pensions and pay were poorly executed. Even if the Shadows said they would lean toward the same Government decision, it would go a long way to explain their approach (working with Unions, consultaions, involvement and explanantion of why it has to happen) to this decision. Labour was created so the common folk's voices were heard.

Balls, Miliband et al have forgotten that.

None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

I tend to agree with you there.

However, on specific policies such as public sector pay, it genuinely is difficult to say what you'd do in 3 years time when/if you got into power, especially given the volatile nature of economics and public finance. Osbourne ended up borrowing as much as Darling had planned to borrow by the time of the last budget!

For sure, the over-arching macro picture is one that is not well articulated, and for my money, not differentiated enough.
