Any users out there who can help?
Just bought this but am struggling to use it properly at the minute. I would like to set the timers on it so that I can do some interval workouts but for the life of me I can't get them to work. I've already posted on the polar forum and emailed them direct without any joy so far. How do I do it? And whilst I'm at it, is it possible to program it so that I can ride 5 mins at one HR zone then for 3 mins at another revert to the original etc etc? The manual doesn't help me much, but I think that says more about me I reckon
Thanks in advance

    I've got a CS500...

Whats the issue? I just look at the timer, and then do intervals from that...? Does that not suffice?

Surely it would be a lot off hassle to have to programme in heart rate zones and times for each training session..? Just set the display to display heart rate % rather than bpm (easier to use) and then just use the timer?
  • Suspect your right. However daft question, but how do I start the timer? I can set it to 2,510 or whatever minutes, but how do I start them? Please don't say it's as simple as press start cos that would be too embarrassing

Ok I'm not sure what you mean by timers. Perhaps its different in the CS500 but if what you mean is that you want to have a workout stored on your headunit which you then follow during ride then you can set that up in the PPT5 software.

You need to connect the headunit to the PPT5 software first and when connected go to the exercises tab. Just chose a number that is free or edit one if none are free. Choose phased and work from there.

    PPT5 doesn't work with CS500...

The timer that you set, I think is just a reminder. Like I have set mine to 15 mins to remind me to drink every 15 mins.

Ahh right - as a matter of interest what do they use?

Yeah, if I'd known that the CS500 was incompatible and generally rubbish I wouldn't have bought it. It does work with the polar personal trainer which is a web based program.

So if I could just set the timers to go off every 5 mins (or whatever), then more than half my battle is won. But I still can't activate the timer after I have set it. Please how do I do that?

It just runs, from when your training starts....

Am I missing your aim, but surely the easiest way (the way i do it) is to set the CS500 to display your current heart rate in % of HRM and then you know what intensity you need to work at, and then you just use the ride time clock to work to intervals..?
  • Yup I can do that. I just thought that there was a way to set timers and hz zones manually. Guess you can't then other than set upper and lower limits and not at 60% 70% 80% 90%
