Apologies for a slight hi-jack here, but I have 2011 Mavic Crossride discs:(http://www.evanscycles.com/products/mav ... 4#features)
Can these be converted to take the Superstar 10mm mentioned previously? I need a Skewer change so may as well go for this if it fits. Any help appreciated!Very funny Scotty, now beam me down my clothes.0 -

Took the bike out on Sunday and you can really feel the difference especially when cornering hard, back end feels very responsive and a lot tighter.0

The last of the bits I ordered to convert my pro 2 to 10mm arrived today. The superstar 10mm thru axle qr is heavier than I expected. Anyone know if the DT Swiss RWS (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=21670) is much lighter?
I'm not really expecting to feel much difference while riding. I'm doing this to stop the creak I get from the QR if it's not fastened really awkwardy tight.0 -
Another hijack coming up.. I've got Roval Traverse AL's http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-Roval-Traverse-AL-Disc-MTB-Wheelset_34735.htm?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Product_Search&utm_campaign=Froogle02 but can't seem to find out the spec for the rear hub..
Any ideas if these would take the superstar 10mm axle??0 -

RWS alloy are substantially lighter than the steel ones.0 -

thats because you ride cross country and have skinny bars and a long stem so you wont feel the difference...
the heckler has a very flexy back end.. and i could feel it under cornering.. when i put the 10mm through axel on it stopped the back end flexing. it felt stiffer it carved a tighter turn, if that makes sense..
now the pace was not flexy but it feels stiffer when railing a berm hard, it seem to be more responsive the rear end, dont know how it just does,,, please dont tell me it all in my head.. i dont want to take those pills... :Pwww.bearbackbiking.com

I think it depends on the hub too - the RWS is a skewer, not an axle, and has no effect on stiffness. They don't claim it does either, it is for secure fitting.0

But what about the RWS axle version? Dont they do a skewer and an axle?A Flock of Birds

The thru bolt RWS optimizes the RWS system even more. Instead of a regular 5 mm quick release axle, a 10 mm rear thru bolt is used. Together with a DT Swiss thru bolt hub it offers an even better connection to the frame and fork than even a standard RWS as well as any other quick release. The RWS thru bolt system combines the advantages of a fixed thru axle with the ease of use of a standard quick release. The RWS thru bolt system is 100 % compatible with any standard frame or fork that would normally use a quick release!
No claim of increased stiffness, just an improved connection to the frame. I'm not sure the 38g weight saving over the superstar version is worth the extra £37.
I fitted my 10mm axle conversion and superstar QR thru axle last night, no chance of a test ride until the weekend so I don't know if there's a noticable difference yet.0 -

it is both."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

What I meant was they do a traditional skewer style, and an axle style.A Flock of Birds

Done a thorough test ride on the new 10mm axle round Hamsterley black route yesterday. The bike felt a bit more solid when the back wheel was tracking through some rocks but other than that I can't say I noticed a difference. Still I'm glad I changed to the 10mm axle and I've now got all the hope tools for hub servicing.0
