Ramp test with a difference bit of fun

myself and my clubmates have a turbo league every winter, last winter we did 1KM and this year it's 4km, doesn't mater what turbo you have as your only racing against yourself and the league just adds a bit of fun and competition, also helps with motivation being on the rig, good way to regular test your fitness and it really does train you to pace your effort.
As long as you can measure distance accurately-ish and time then that's all you need, get someone to maintain the league tables and post it on your website as times arrive.
Have a go, sounds easy doesn't it  You might want to try a test run first to get an idea of what speed you can hold, some of you will blow up big style though on your first attempt - lesson learned
Set you turbo up same every time and same tyre pressure too.
here's my bests, thought I would post this today as just done a personal best
Cateye CS1000 Simulator, resistance No.1 120psi Conti Turbo Tyre
1k - 1min 11secs @31.5mph
4km - 5mins 39sec @ 26.39mph
our 1km winner last year did use rollers and was only one under a minute 54.96 @40.73mph

But turbos vary greatly in their resistance, so comparisons are meaningless :?Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Now I'm baffled. If you're just racing against yourself how did last year's winner become the winner?
Which part of the 1km time trial was the ramp test? A ramp test is a test to exhaustion and records power.

well it was the fastest time so the winner, it's just for fun, dear god :!:
I know full well it's not a proper ramp test  , however it will still end you at complete exhaustion all the same and if your turbo has power you can record your ave and end power if you wish to, you may also find depending on how well your turbo/power matches your road power that your end ave speed/power is pretty close to your threshold speed or FTP, just as an aside, it may not, certainly rollers won't for ave speed.
An interesting comparison though to a full ramp test would be interesting from those of you running power should you wish or dare to try itTeam4Luke supports Cardiac Risk in the Young0
