  • Made my 2011 resolution in September - "Not to rush into decisions and plans without full consideration". So I reckon 2012 resolution should be ready early in 2013.........

Get my Allez around the world [18k miles], only 3 more to go!

Mille Alba - 1000km Audax in June in Scotland.

Plus more commuting by bike and shorter Audaxes to help me achieve that.

Well, I have a standing resolution to lose weight, but this year I have given myself some added incentive by putting down for a sub 4 hour starting time for the Etape Cal - so I have to get a lot fitter and faster or else look like a pillock. 5 months, 10kg, the maths is easy but is the willpower?

    1 - Do some work...

2 - Mine is cycle Leeds to Otley, a massive 17 miles in one day. Start small and aim high as my old man used to say.

    3 - Lose 3 stone from 14.6 to 11.6

    4 - World domination.

    2. Complete the 35 miler I have entered
    3. Try to be a bit more positive about things

    1. 6,000 miles
    2. N+1
    3. London to Paris 24 hour
    4. Begin racing and progress to 3rd Cat
    5. Win back any KOM's Wrath Ron steals from me.
    6. Knock 1 hour off my Marmotte time (so sub 8.30 including Glandon Descent)
    7. Get to 95kg by Marmotte.
    8. Improve climbing (not difficult as couldn't be any worse)

    I haven't made resolutions. I'm setting goals:
    • I aim to finish 2012 lighter than when I start it. This year, I've finished about the same weight as I was on Jan 1st 2011
    • I aim to do more non-commuting miles on my bike than I did this year
    • I want to be able to do at least one "muscle up" by the end of the year.

Mine are, in no particular order:
    - commute at least four days a week
    - stay away from the Cadbury's factory shop
    - give up smoking
    - WTFU on my cycling holiday in Morrocco in April (I really don't want to be the last every day)
    - Lose a stone
    - Don't spend more in Wiggle than what I would have done on the train
    - find a bloke (maybe)
    - do the Tour of the Pennines (maybe)
    Commute: Chadderton - Sportcity

Hehehe. I've only ended up in there once since starting in July, so pretty good going. Booths could be more of a problem - they do a really nice pork pie... Well, it's chicken & ham IIRC, but heavy and lardy.

Cadbury's is a problem when Learning has a ratio of roughly 10F:1:M, as someone always has PMT and goes there at lunchtime to "feel better" and comes back with a load. Agree with the Booth's pork pies - the dinky ones are amazing, but unfortunately, not that dinky.

    And therefore, neither am I....

Same as every year, to give up smoking weed.
  • In terms of biking MTB more, And take it to wales when I see my folks, the mountains are lot more technical that swinley or Surrey hills.

Sell the roadie since I don't use it and in time get a CX maybe?

Make time to get out and about on the SS around the surrey hills.

    Capital to Coast?
  • To get back in to cycling a bit more - go out on rides just for the sake of it rather than only to run errands.

Try to work out what the hell I'm doing with my career!

Try to work out what the hell I'm doing with my career!

On the first point: Sorry, I'm having problems understanding that one (says no 10 in the SCStats rankings)..but seriously, loads of social rides out there- I'm pretty sure to be passing through Essex multiple times in 2012 with assorted chums, as this year, and I know you'd be very welcome.
Second point: No idea. But I'm sure you'll work it out. What happened to the air traffic control thing, btw?

    Mine:
Mileage. Probably less this year. That'll be 10k then, lol.
A 200 mile day. Nearly managed it this year, so that's unfinished business.
If I have anything to do with it, the best FNRttC ever (which is saying something). HPC to Southsea, April 20. Fantastic roads with bugger all traffic. Great company. Fantastic breakfast in a castle (and yes, that's a proper castle, not some folly). All welcome....
A (shadow) lap of the M25
    FNRttC/Dun Run combo (again)
As many other FNRttCs and other socials as I can fit in.
And last, but most emphatically not least: HPCJoG...will probably put a few extra miles on that one to make up the distance. An E2E without having to suffer the overpriced dump that is Lands' End.

    1) Get good enough at my wood working that someone commissions a piece. No matter how small.
    2) Keep the oboe up and get through my grade 5 theory with a distinction.
    3) Try to keep consistent monthly milage
    4) Come out of the club trip to Majorca fitter and ride every day there.
    6) Enjoy myself more this year.
    7) Possibly try to find a new job if things don't pick up.

    1) Bike fit - my knees were caning after 2 fairly leisurely 40 mile rides over 2 days - on a bike with flat pedals!
    2) L2P in 24h without putting a foot down (exceptions excluded- crash, ferry, mechanical)
    3) Bowland Badass (bit nervous about this one)
    4) Bit more winter training (didn't get out much pre-xmas)
    5) Pass my final professional exams and charter in sept (which looks like it will severely clash with L2P and BB, but we'll see)
  • 1) Complete a Pyrenean Raid in June and raise some money in the process for a deserving cause
    2) Get up half a dozen Alps in August
    3) Better my current 3000 miles a year on the bike by not wimping out when its too cold/or wet (I know; MTFU)
    4) Partake in a couple of sportives
    5) Loose the 5Kg that Christmas on a floating trough seems to have bestowed on me (even though I spent an hour a day in the gym).
    6) Join Facebook and find out what the fuss is all about (tick: done this)
