Turbo Trainer Inspiration - cycling footage - where from?

Hi People,

I'm currently doing a few turbo training sets during the week and trying to help keep my focus following the sets that I'm following by watching some inspriring cycling footage.

At the moment I'm limited to Youtube footage - which obviously is limited in contents, quality and times (longest footage is only 15 min) and most intervals are at least 15 min long etc - so I'm wondering if people could point me in the right direction to either legal online footage from various cycling websites etc or recommend some dvd cycling footage that I can purchase.

I'm not talking about sufferfests or spinervals as I'm following a pre-scribed coached set - I'm just looking for footage to watch (ie like the videos thart always seem to be playing in good cycling shops when you visit them)

Cheers,

Dru

  • Hi Mate,

I'm sure others on here know of plenty of places to download videos etc. Here are ones I've used:

The most common one is http://www.cyclingtorrents.nl(you will need to download a torrent program, I use uTorrent).

Another one I've just come across which is excellent and doesn't use torrents is http://www.videosdeciclismo.net/

You could watch all the Beyond The Peloton videos on the Cervelo website.

Finally if you go on youtube, and search cycling and filter it by checking the long>20 minutes option you can watch the watercarriers one (forgot the name) and The Greatest Show On Earth, aswell as a shed-load of others
  • do try there - they are really good - http://www.real-life-video.nl/index.php/en/

Support the Sufferfest.. if done correctly will have you in tears.
Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?

Use Youtube with a downloader so that you can grab the sequences.
Then stitch 'em together with a video editor (videopad ) and if you want, over lay music tracks... you can easily make 60 mins worth of turbo work...trying to keep pace on Fleche Wallone up the Mur de huy for example

I've already got a tough program to follow that my coach has given me - I just want to have some inspiring cycling footage to watch whilst turboing. :)
  • A Sunday in Hell is available on YouTube. It is about an hour and a half I think. A great watch !

Have a look for cyclocross channel on YouTube. They have plenty of races of an hour or so.

Or you can just create a playlist of the vids you want to watch in YouTube and it will play them in order.

Thanks for all the sugestions, but thanks DH for posting this link.

All this week my turbo training has revolved around watching the tour of California 2011.

Much better than just listening to the tunes on the ipod :)
