Although doubtless this will spark off a debate with people who are convinced that you are putting it under unusual strain - there have been a few threads on this!
You will put the frame under more strain on the road, e.g. when climbing out of the saddle and using your body weight to brace against the stomping on the cranks. Bike frames are designed to take this, and trainers are designed to be used with normal bikes.0 -
Just make sure you are using a trainer specific skewer such that the skewer is taking the clamping load and the clamps don't touch the frame. Otherwise, if a bike can't take being ridden on a trainer, I sure wouldn't want to ride it on the road.

Went for an Elite Crono Fluid ElastoGel Trainer.
They seem to get good reviews without being too expensive.0 -

You shouldn't believe everything you read. I reckon they're rubbish (and I own one that's collecting dust in the garage - I use a Fluid 2 instead which is waaaaaaaaaaay better).More problems but still living....0
