I took part in a similar study a couple of years back.
The benefit here is nothing to do with pedalling technique - the other pedal is weighted (I used 10kg I think) so that the motion is as close as possible to normal riding.0 -

* for instance if one foot/leg is incapacitated for some reason for a while and you want to at least try to maintain some level of fitness0 -
I've no access to loading weights on pedals, but if I just left my leg clipped in, then that's not a million miles away from your 11kg weight ?0

I do isolated leg training as part of my turbo-training regime. It is really good at sorting out a smooth pedalling technique and building strength, particularly if you up the gears (e.g. 52/15 @ 50rpm). I haven't done anything like this as part of a supervised experiment though  Where are you guys going to get experimented upon?
What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!0 -
I have a very long penis and relatively short legs, does anyone know where i can get hold of a three armed crank and a cleat to attach to said penis.
Pedalling with three appendages as got to be better than 2 surely????0 -
Only if it does weight trianing at the gym first0
