hello have brought a turbo trainer the tacx 2500 booster i think its called. have set it up and dont know how hard it has to touch the wheel as if you really pedal had u can make it slip. does the wheel just have to touch it or need alot of pressure if that makes scene the instructions are in foreign.
cheers

I would do it so it doesn't slip. Another way to avoid it slipping is not to do any sudden accerlerations, just increase the speed smoothly.
  • I have mine so that the measurement across the indent of the roller into the tyre is ~25 mm with a 2 inch roller, tyre pressure 90 psi, and i get no slip that i can detect even on out of the saddle efforts.

If it slips when you're riding normally then you should increase the pressure a bit until it doesn't. If it slips when you try to do big accelerations, but not during normal riding or smaller accelerations then I'd leave it as is and avoid doing the big accelerations since too much pressure on the roller and you'll start shredding tyres.
    More problems but still living....

You should be able to adjust the roller pressure to avoid any tyre slippage. Like previous posts have said, try and avoid any sudden changes in acceleration and go for smooth power increases instead.

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!

    +1
Sit on your bike normally & see how much/little the back tyre squashes. Mimic that on your turbo!
