After congratulating myself for fitting in my best weeks training last week, two turbo sessions and two long rides, I am now struck down with the dreaded man flu.
I'm in my third day and itching to do something on the bike (apart from hang around on Bikeradar).
Would an easy session on the turbo tonight be a bad idea or is it a case of rest until all signs of said cold and related snottyness have vanished?

To be fair, I did admit to it being a cold in the small print
Man flu must surely be in the dictionary by now "Man flu: extremely serious debilitating illness only contracted by males of the human species . Also known as mycoldisworsethanyoursitis"Mike B

my non-qualified, potentially-unreliable medical opinion is: if you have a sore throat - stay off the bike. If it's just a regular cold, ride on....0

Your race to join the plum pudding peloton is obviously a victim of the season... you must absolutely train harder this time of year and ignore any ailment if you want to be top of the tree.My pen won't write on the screen0

I was told...
Head cold - OK to excersise
Lungs - Nope
I've got terminal man flu at the moment. Meant to be going into hospital on Monday for an op to get the metal taken out of my arm, so I'm avoiding any form of exercise and necking buckets of vitamin C to shed it. If I'm still full of it they'll prob postpone it for another month!0 -
So I'm guessing a phlegmy cough counts as lungs? Oh well another day out of the saddle....so frustrating.
Is the metal cycling related?
Kinda puts things into perspective just having a cold. Good luck if the op does go ahead and a speedy return to the bike.Mike B

Yip, taken out back in May by an old biddy driving round a corner on the right hand side of the road. Badly shattered right wrist (I never saw it but I was told I removed her wing mirror with my arm!). My body's started to reject the metal and I keep getting a forearm like Popeye, so it's all coming out. I've only just got back on the bike!0

After two bouts of flu, chest and sinus infections and glandular fever in a 10 week period I will be taking my doctors advice from now on - if you're unwell don't train.0

I am on forced abstinence from the bike as well.
Last weekend i felt sniffly with a sore throat so i took a break from the Sunday club run, over the week whilst i was still commuting i developed full on man flu with catarrh , phlegm on the chest and feeling generally like a zombie.
By Thursday i was in the car as work was enough ( i have a physical job) and my symptoms were getting worse, bit of a downer for me as this sort of thing normally last 2-3 days and i am fine .
Looks like tomorrow`s run is a no go as well ... GGGRRRR !!!!FCN 3/5/90 -
Having turned 40 not so long ago I now rarely "push through" and try and train whilst I am oozing mucus from almost every orifice. Time off the bike can often be a necessity and a good chance to reflect on what else needs working on. Enforced absence from work between June and September due to broken collar bone (which really does cut you out of doing lots of things you take for granted) gave me an opportunity to sort out a good "regain some form" training regime. It has paid off and I am trying to keep it going despite the cack weather.
What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!0
