Commuting is 100 miles a week then if i get chance a club run on a Sunday of 60-70 miles total door to door .
This week is a non starter though , only 60 miles commuting as i cut it short with man flu and no ride tomorrow as i do not fancy coughing my guts up all the way around .
Mind you coming home after a night shift with a cold in heavy hail surely counts as bonus milage ?FCN 3/5/90 -
Am only doing turbo trainer mileage at the moment so I am not sure that counts
What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!0 -

Everyone is talking about "Quality miles" but surely that is relative to what you're trying to achieve? I'm trying to build up a base so I'm trying hard to get 100 a week in, purely because I'm pushed for time. Most of that has been done in Zone 1/2 but because I'm doing such little mileage, I'm beginning to think I should be looking at doing it at level 3 or perhaps even 2x20s. I've not been riding like this very long (coming up 4 months now) but I'm trying to do what is required to get me to a decent standard next spring when I should be able to increase the mileage somewhat.0

Well you could do 100 miles in Z1 or recovery and get no real benefit, this doesn't even really build much of a base. You could do 100 miles in Z2 however and get more benefit. Alternatively as you are doing so little mileage in real terms, you could do the whole lot of this in Z3/Z4 and get a great benefit.
To get the best benefit from Z2 work, you need to put the time in IMO, if you haven't got the time, up the intensity a little and do Z3 as a minimum.0
