Train in northern Italy?

The weather around Northern Italy during the winter is absolutely freezing and the major passes not possible. This would be a grand venue between (Giro time) and to the Race of the falling leaves (Autumn) if you want better weather outside this period then head further South in Europe (Southern Iberia for example).
I have done the Maratona and that is set in the first Sunday in July and for a good reason.
We arrived in Treviso airport on the Friday and it was 41C we drove to our hotel at San Cassiano and it was 24C at the hottest part of the day. Race day (and it is a race) we left the hotel at 6.15am for the start and it was 5C with a 5km descent to La Villa brrrrrrr! This apparently was as good as the weather gets there as well. By mid-day it was lovely 19C at the top of the Passo Sella but once again it was July!
Northern and Mid Italy can have some of the biggest seasonal temperature changes in Europe. I shall be taking in stage 5 finish and stage 6 start of next years Giro whilst staying with our friends in the La Marche region.

Pep my post was a reply to a topic which has since been withdrawn, clue is in the Re: Train in northern Italy. The original post was from a commercial outfit who were using words like escape the British weather etc. hence my responce aimed at helping would be punters realising exactly what they may be buying into, you are obviously not a person that needs an introduction to the area.
Guess the original poster took their "ball back home".
