CP20 test near Richmond Park

Where can I do my CP20 test near Richmond Park? I live nearby. Unfortunately the park is not a good place for testing, the speed limit, the traffic and the police not helping. Does anybody know where I can find a good stretch of road where I can go all out for 20 minutes, near Richmond Park? (London).

Or the reverse of it is probably your best bet, on quiet road times it's normally okay with just a chance of a hold up a couple of places. Always a chance of being delayed though.

  • Thanks! Yes looks very good! I spotted just one traffic light (had a look on street view). What time of the day/week do you suggest I do my test? I was thinking about tomorrow morning perhaps around 8am...

It's a midweek night route for me when it's generally reasonably quiet from 7:30 or 8. I can't imagine it would be too busy at 8am on a sunday! I'll be riding it as part of a club run from just after 9 and have done on other weeks and rarely see any traffic. Yes there's one traffic light, the red only activates if there's traffic there waiting so you're normally fine, the Hampton Court Roundabout before it, the roundabout to Walton Bridge and the center of Sunbury when there's occasionally a bus (twice an hour I think it's there) is where you might get delayed. Need to be a bit careful with the roundabouts still.

+1 for that route. I'd do it from Kingston to Chertsey, rather than the return leg. There's nothing more irritating than doing well and getting to Sunbury only to get a bus turn out on you and hold up the traffic!

You could also start at Hampton Court by the river and go down the Hurst road to the Xcel leisure centre, around the roundabout and back to Kingston. That's 8 miles though, so you won't run out of road unless you're quicker than 25 minutes for a club 10 TT.

Did it this morning, loved it. I now finally have a 20 min stretch of 'unadulterated pleasure'! Pure sufferfest. I started at the Kingston roundabout, 9am Sunday morning, very light traffic. Managed to do a quality CP20.

Thanks again for sharing, much obliged.

If you can do it in 20minutes then you're both strong and aerodynamic - especially today! I only managed 23:46 for it and I had 3 other strong guys out with me!

    Glad you like the route.
