I think the bloke in blue on the left of this image is super sexy. If I was a burd, I'd be all over him.

That's not even anywhere near true, your seat's only too high if you need to rock your hips to pedal.

I have my saddle at a lower height when I'm on the hybrid or a MTB, but thats just about right for the road bike.

as said - it "looks" wrong - but when your hips are rocking that's actually really bad not just too high. merely thinking of muscle groups at stretch v more compressed when underload is all.

Pfft, hardly. Waitrose is the most left wing supermarket in the UK. All perm employees are stakeholders and have a democratic say in how its run. In fact Waitrose is a (I think founding) member of the Employee Ownership Association. The only way I could be less conservative is if I rode my bakfiets to shop at The People's Supermarket :P

I actually overheard 'I didn't think your type shopped at Waitrose' the other day in Fulham.

There was a bit of context, but not much.

It has some good stuff that you can't get elsewhere, but f*ck me, they rip the arse out of you, especially with their fruit & veg.

Really? I shopped at Waitrose when I was a poor student*, their own brand tinned stuff is pretty cheap and way better quality than the equivalent elsewhere. I think it only has the reputation for being expensive because it stocks a quite a few premium ranges, stuff like Gail's bread and fancy charcuterie. Also, they don't have huge discounts for bulk sales of junk food, booze, fizzy drinks etc, but I can live with that. Personally I think its pretty good for staples.

*Though that wasn't the reason I was poor :P

Yep, they're all 'partners' I know somone who works at John Lewis and he explained it to me. That means all Waitrose staff are actually self-employed entrepreneurs - surely the scourge of the earth for any socialist? :)

I shop there because I don't have to rub shoulders with the lumpen proletariat

The context was, from what I could gather, two old friends from Uni bumped into one another. One was clearly a brassy Northener, the other, your standard Fulhamite.

I just got my lunch from the People's Supermarket and some hipster served me - well when I say 'served' I mean he stood chatting about some sh1t to his equally hipster mate while carrying out an uttlerly wordless transaction with me. It sounds petty (it IS petty) but I do think in retail that a little 'hello, how are you... ooh nice purchases sir, what a lovely tie you have on' interaction wouldn't go amiss.

And for that reason, tomorrow's lunch will be coming from either Waitrose or M&S simply food.

Undeniably, and I am acutely aware of how fortunate I am to count this as a gripe and not, for example, gnawing poverty. However, when I'm paying £4.50 for a bit of falafel I expect a bit of sycophancy.

    That's a pretty serious falafel.

I think its a fair point to be honest. Its all very well wanting to be part of a progressively liberal project like The People's Supermarket, but if your involvement is putting people off it kind of defeats the point. Unless of course the point was to be able to talk about it at dinner parties :?
