nice looking scoot is that a Line 6 and Ibanez lurking in the bottom corner?
    Well spotted ;)
There's a warwick streamer $$ and ashdown ABM stack lurking just out of shot as well. I'm more of a bassist than guitarist.

Haha sweeet always wanted a gibby lp studio, sweet guitars. Used to have an epi lp standard, that was pretty sweet as well! I don't use mine nearly enough though at the moment, unfortunately.

Nice, I take it that's yours? Nice build, little more XC than mine ;)
The actual paint itself does seem good quality, as it was on my old orange. The paint on my old on one was like cheese though!
nah was our kids old bike.. thats more or less standard spec on it apart from brakes pedals and tyres...
was a fantastic bike.. sold it to make way for the knolly delirium.

Took some decent(ish) photos of the slayer on my new go pro whilst riding today (the quality isn't great as i had to crop them). Also tried doing some videos on the chest mount that arrived this morning, but it was my first time using it and pretty much just ended up filming my bars and top tube, I'll have another play this weekend!

with the chest mount, you have to put the camera upside down. gives a much better angle. it might looks like it pointing up when your standing but once your in riding position it's perfect
  • Looking really good.. great spec to match the type of bike!

I've got another mount that came with the camera that's longer and has more pivots in it, so I'm going to use that next time, saves me flipping the video, but cheers for the tip.

And cheers ben, it's almost there, just needs a dropper post!

Looks good, the red bar end caps and headset spoil it a bit though, they look to scruffy - as does the seatpost - get a Thomson in there! Also, remove your rim stickers!

They look scruffy because i use the bloody thing! I'm not paying £70 for a thompson seatpost for me to trash it! ;) Though I would like a red seat clamp, would make the rest of the red bits make sense.
    Cheers though

remember the seat post/tube being a tight fit on our kids slayer 70.

i bet a nice red chromag seat clamp would look sweet on the bike.

mm yeah, would look good, unfortunately that's not too high on my list of priorities right now though (first being a new lid and some new pivot bearings!)

Buy one 2nd hand and use it for what its intended, i.e. holding your saddle in place. Im not sure how you can manage to "trash" a seatpost, although if you run them at that height I guess theres every chance!

I tend to move the post around a lot as I'm riding, for descents etc. I also use the bike for downhill, which necessitates having the post down low. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just a bit scuffed. Why spend money on a nice looking thompson post when it's gonna get scuffed up within a few rides? People that spend too much time worrying about how their bike looks clearly don't ride enough ;) I could do with a dropper post though really...

couple of photos from earlier today, gave both the bikes a clean and thought I might as well.

It's had a new chain guide, rear mech and shifter since the last photos.

I can't afford a dremel.Hopefully I'll manage to save for a reverb over the summer.

Well a Reverb is out of the question this summer, but I've managed to afford a long overdue overhaul on the pivot bearings and shock bushings/hardware (did it myself to save cost, was pretty easy) and gave her an all-round clean and lube while she was in bits. Still need to sort out the rear hub bearings, and probably bleed the brakes, but apart from that she's running sweeeeet now. Took the opportunity to take some photos anyway.

This is resurrecting an old comment but as Jay says putting the go pro on upside down is a good positioning tip with the chest mount and the go pro itself has a setting which flips the footage so you don't have to do diddly with it when you download it. Its only a problem if you want to use another mount as well mid ride. But even then something like windows movie maker makes flipping the footage easy enough.

Yeah i tried that, but the mount was still too wobbly, no matter how tight it was. I got rid of it a while ago.

I've been running clipless for a while, really like them for XC, but not so much for downhill or those techy/slippy trails when you need to get a foot out. I can get a foot out easily enough, but it's getting back in when I have the problem, not ideal going down steep/techy trails with only one foot on the pedals! I'm going to try some Five Ten SPDs and some pedals with a bigger platform (shimano M530s) when I have the money.
