Like I said it is good and yes they have done some fantastic work, but it is not worthy of trail of the year...compare it to the likes of Glentress and it doesn't come close...........0

The thing is I'm reluctant to drive for 80ish mins after having such a bad experience.I've heard the same said about Whinlatter which I've now ridden about 5 or 6 times and dislike it more everytime I ride it :roll:0 -
Thye forestry team have done a huge amount to improve the contractor built sections at the top. That said even at it's worst only a very small percentage was total slop, most people do expect to get a little muddy when out riding. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -

2.Yes I love getting muddy,I generally ride natural stuff in the Peaks/Lakes so mud isn't a problem but at a trail centre you expect it to be at least ridable/flowy and Gisburn was neither. If I want a mud-bath I can nip into Wharncliffe 10 mins ride away.
I will ride there again, probably next summer to see how it is when dry.0 -
Fair dos, that was your experience of it. I rode it a couple of months ago in torrential rain and very little was unrideable (although there are a couple of other sections that could now do with looking at). Unlike many of the other trail centres it is rapidly evolving, new stuff getting added and compared to most other centres a significant amount of repair work has been done. Hope you like it next Summer (Assuming we get a summer next year). It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

I was there a few months back...have things changed that much ?
I thought the trail marking was poor especially up by the slab...think its a trail for the summer0 -
Rode it a few times over the past months, the past few times being wet visits. So you get a bit of mud on you, nothing worse than if you went anywhere off road in the wet. The only boggy section I encountered was on the unfinished bit of the hope line.
Quite glad that not everybody likes it, means it'll be quieter for the rest of us that do
Now, if you want to see a mudfest, get yourself to Cannock..0 -
Gisburn, may or may not be the best Trail. It may or may not be everyones cup of tea.
For me, I live smack in the middle between Gisburn and Lee Quarry, and between the 2 trail centres, it is the one I spend 90% of my time at when I choose to ride at Trail Centres. That doesnt mean theres anything wrong with Lee Quarry, I just like Gisburn better, I like the Scenery, peace and quiet, the riding enviroment and the slightly softer landings when you do come off the bike.
Only downsides for me is the roads getting there and the mobile reception aint great in case you do need the emergency services.
As for the Boardwalk, yes I hate the last hump too, came off there on top of hump as not enough speed and went sideways off it. Tore my ligaments in my food/ankle area as my ankle twisted when I landed on it.0 -
I just wish i could get up there more. But i refuse to pay £1600 in Car insurance. So it a once a month place for me even tho its only 25 miles away. Lee Quarry is closer tho0
