Cycling in drops, glute + hamstring question

Hi

I have started to cycle in the drops a lot more, and have also started to up my time & intensity on the bike.

I am noticing my hamstrings (left in particular), is becoming a little sore. (I think they initially became sore from running).

My question:

Would cycling in the drops recruit the glutes/hamstrings more than cycling in a more upright position? My theory is that my glutes are getting tight due to the lower position and this is putting stress on the hammys..

Thanks

As you spend more time in the drops, your core strength and flexibility becomes more important. The stronger your core muscles are the less strain it will put on your hamstrings and glutes. Pilates exercises are excellent for this and should become part of your regular exercise regime. Plenty of information on net about exercises that are good for cycling. Bike fit is also a consideration.
