On a good day, I'd be at least 2 to 3 seconds a lap behind Jack Bobridge and his world record. But I'll be trying to break the World Record for my class in a few weeks.
Pretty impressive none the less. Fingers crossed for attempt. If in Manchester will it be an open session?
No - it will be in competition at the Track Worlds which are in LA in about 5 weeks from now. If not there, will have to wait until the Paralympics! (which is more likely anyway as LA is a slow track).0 -
Coline what is your laptime target and what distance do you have to do 2 or 3 k ?
Do you train with the Irish ladies? They are very good for training with for pursuit as they do very good routines and when they go as a team perfect pacing . They train quite a bit at Newport.
I am just getting y dolan frame resprayed customised and I will put team logo on it also, this will then be my bunch racing bike.0 -
johnboy183 wrote:Out of curiosity, What does half a second equate to distance wise? Is it a meter per lap? More or less?
As for distance, look at the photo below and it gives you idea, 0.1 s is roughly just over a bike lengthso to gain 1/2 sec may not sound much bit over a lap it is about 6 bike lengths at the speed in the race. For a pursit pace probably 0.1 is a bike length as speed would be less.
You can see the time scale at bottom of photo and you can see the third and fourth place guys about 0.5 sec behind.
By the way I cam second about 0.01 sec behind Steve Clayton of Planet X lol

Thanks chaps. Not up on all my riders and their families but would the welsh lady's initials be KC?
I know that Cav has a theory about the pursuit being a series of all out sprints with minimal rest, think he may have suggested it to the coaches at the time he was "serious" about his going round in circles. Perhaps we could have a team of Hoy, Cav, Kenny, Queally or Pendleton, Reade and sorry I've forgotten her name :oops:0 -

I do 3km. My target lap times will be 18.2 to 18.5 a lap. I know the Irish ladies well, but don't train with them. No point really as they work as a unit.
As for pacing, whenever I train with my coach (or have someone at the track with me to call splits) we focus a LOT of getting even splits.
Of course, If I can go faster than 18.2 a lap, there won't be any arguments from any of my coaches!
Next training camp on the track starts in a few days. 2 weeks of daily pounding.0 -

I know they workas a unit but they also do even splits and they do them faster than your splits, the use would be to go behindthem several bike lengths. If you have your own coach to do this with you it is ok but I dont unfortunately and dont get individual track time much so when squads are there I often tag at the back as they have coaches doing splits.
My pacing is crap which is why I prefer to follow, but I am getting better0 -

Their coach is my coach. Plus they have now packed it in as they missed their chance to qualify for the Olympics.0 -

In the first World Cup of the year they DQd. First a false start and then a puncture after 1.5KM. They were always going to struggle to qualify, but without that result, it really wasn't worth carrying on. Caroline Ryan went to the second World Cup and rode the individual pursuit but it's far too late for her to qualify for the Olympics this year. Ireland will just have one (male) track rider in the Olympics in the form of Martin Irvine (Omnium).0 -
Here you go. Photo of the new speed machine ready for racing with the discs on.
Running it out in Majorca right now and just crushing my PBs on a daily basis. Can't wait for competition!0 -

Well - the hard work and my choice in pursuit frame paid off.
Won the Paracycling World Championships Pursuit today on the Look 596. Only one of it's kind here at the games. Lots of older models, but not the new one. Even had the Canadian Women's Pursuit squad checking it out as they have been waiting months for theirs!
Anyway, riding the Kilo in the morning and going for another Gold.
Me on podium:
