The seller - in the description.
From reading it I got the impression it was a pack only. In which case you are charging 6 Pairs with a charger designed for 2 pairs.0 -
The original charger works fine with a battery like this according to Magicshine UK.0
-
Well then it must be ok. Obviously the likes of Dell, Sony, HP, IBM etc are all wrong and put pointless electronic safety gear in their packs. Clearly some bloke trading out of his back bedroom is better informed0

There is a lot more to building batteries than putting a protection circuit in. If you open a laptop battery with 6 or more cells, each pair has a thermistor attached. There is individual charging circuits by pair and and a balance wire between +- in the 2S.
Is there any evidence that the MS mega pack has these features? If it did you think they'd mention them given the known problems.0 -
the openlight batteries are very high quality german manufactured packs and nothing to do with magicshine.Viner Salviati

Couldn't the pack be wired as 2 parallel banks of 2 series x 3 parallel?

I suspect that is how they are wired. i.e. two charge circuits and probably individual protection circuits. You still need to balance though because without a balance you will age the cells differently. You are still left with a 300mA charge, which I don't think is enough for a 3A cell.
For 125 quid, I'd like to see an 8 pin charge or similar so that the charge and discharge are on separate circuits, plus thermal controls.0 -
Iv just got SSC-P7 HeadLamp LED Bicycle Bike HeadLight Light 1200Lm
Of eBay for £27 posted will see how it works tonight.
I had to seal the battery as it was not done very well.0 -
Well my torch arrived! Holy lumens! The output must easily be up near 2000 lm, will get some beam shots when it stops pissing it down. Seems very well made too, had it in bits, nice machining on the threads, good thermal contact, o rings correct and present. The low setting at 0.6a (3x0.6) looks just a little less bright than my 2400ma SSC P7.0

Why does the rain matter? Surely you can just use it to punch some holes in the clouds?Uncompromising extremist0
-
Probably, but it's me that doesn't like it! I bet the torch is fine lol.
Is a bit weighty at 395g, but rest assured that translates to a hardy build.0 -
Looks like you can order them directly from UK warehouse as well - save a bit of time. Price looks the same.

Yeah, they put that up just after I ordered mine from China lol. Has taken a while, but so far very pleased. Well worth the money.0

Coincidentally, my Magicshine MJ-872 arrived today. Not coincidentally, just now I can only properly see out of one eye.Uncompromising extremist0

Well my torch arrived! Holy lumens
Seems a bit weighty - Is this going o be mounted on the handlebars and not on the helmet.
It looks like it runs on rechargeables and does not come with a charger.
I have the t6 1600 for head or bar mount (on its slow journey)
If handlebar mounted what holder did you buy.0 -

If I remember you said you bought it out of curiosity, now that you have it, how do you plan to use it? Bar mount?0 -
Is bar mounted as we speak ;-). But my main use will be walking.0
-
My light has arrived from Hong Kong and I am very impressed.
For 33 quid it really is a bargain. I also bought a wide angle lens from the good old Ewe Ess of Eh (thanks for the link Northwind).0 -
Any one used either the wide angle lens or orange peal reflectors yet? How are they at creating a wider hot spot?0
-
The wide angle one still isn't perfect, but it's an improvement... It's a wide box of light rather than a wide circle so a little bit odd. You can run it vertically or horizontally, and the actual effective light doesn't feel drastically less. So worth trying, especially at the price but not really gamechangingUncompromising extremist0
-
The wideanlge on mine needs some fettling. It replaces the glass lens, but is much thinner, so it rattles around - I need to add another rubber washer or something to stop this. Seems like a good option though in terms of what it does to the light.0
-
If you put the wide angle lens behind the glass, it won't rattle around.0
-
They wont both fit together - the cap doesnt screw down properly. I guess it might be OK but not sure if it would still be waterproof or even loosen and fall off...0
-
You haven't lost the oring have you? Mine is a little thinner but still fits perfectly because it's all compression fit.Uncompromising extremist0
