Pathetic phobias- Trypophobia (possibly NSFL)

So, thanks to the internet I now know I have a pathetic phobia, and i feel completely squicked out. Officially it's a fear of holes, but in this case more specifically holes in the skin, with stuff in. PS the full complement of regular holes are fine by me.

So what do you reckon? Horrific or just meh? There's a poll- I'm intrigued to see if it's a standard response that I just wasn't aware of, or if I'm a gigantic squeamish coward... Worth mentioning the first 2 are photoshops.

<space entered for protection of my brain>

<and possibly yours but, meh, it's not my brain so I'm not so bothered>

<nah but really, if you react to these like I do you might not want to scroll down. But there's nothing NSFW or inherently horrible or gory about them, apart from being CLEARLY NOT RIGHT>

Example 2

I think I'm going to throw up. It's the KNEES. Imagine kneeling on those. Literally turned white just there thinking about it.

They freak me the hell out.

When I was 14 or so, I saw a photoshopped picture of a breast with a similar modification that was made to the second photo you posted. I couldn't sleep for weeks. Then, while doing my paper round at Christmas time, I saw a seedpod attached to a wreath on someone's door, with holes in it exactly matching the 'holes' in the breast. I sighed with gigantic relief, able to convince myself the picture wasn't real.

Odd, really, that I have multiple facial piercings...
  • I'm in the same boat as well, but the last 2 pictures arn't bad for me, but the first one really blows my mind with disgustingness.

That. Eww. All I can say.

Holy mother of Mary! That first picture is disgusting!

I’m not normally bothered by stuff like this. I think it’s because of the detail from the image combined with eating breakfast... muesli in the bin :(

  • The holes in the schoolgirl's knees look a little to symmetrical to be natural
I believe that's been Photoshopped TBH, either way, great conversation piece. Breathe heavily over her and you could play a panpipe / empty beerbottle tune on her.

The rotten fingers have to be great for hiding small quantiies of narcotics too...

So you've got a phobia of photoshopped pictures?
    That is pretty weird.

  • Haha that first picture is kind of awesome! At first I thought they were holes where the fingernails were meant to be!

Doesn't really bother me that much. My pathetic phobia is Bambakophobia
It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

So you've got a phobia of photoshopped pictures?
    That is pretty weird.

First one incidentally is the mouth of a lamprey, photoshopped onto fingers. The girl is lotus seeds. (I did mention this folks! It's not real!)

That dog doesn't bother me at all, weirdly. In fact I've got a wee overgrown scar thing on one of my fingers that looks a bit like one of the lotus seeds, but it's real therefore not freaky. There's somethign similiar that happens in nature with fly eggs, again, doesn't set me off like the photoshops do, as if it makes it worse that they're not real.

Apparently some people get freaked just by pictures of the unphotoshopped seedpods, I do now but only because of the association, they don't seem horrible themselves.

There's some other ones... I can't google them without spazzing out completely, but there's a page "trypophobia test" which has some good ones. There was a NASA picture of an asteroid covered in holes on the news that got my skin crawling frinstance. Some people get the same connection from things like wasp's nests and other honeycombs, or the ends of pipes.

I dunno, I find it grimly fascinating too, can't stop thinking about THE KNEES OH GOD THE KNEEEEES

  • Go to youtube, and type in "do you have trypophobia". That animal with the holes in the back and other animals coming out is absolutely rotten. I could only hold on for just over a minute.

See, now you ve told me what they are I'm ok! It's the thought of something embedded or living in the skin that freaks me, the seed pods are fine...they re just big strawberries, what are the animals in the YouTube vid? Are they young or horrible parasites?

This place has turned into a pussy's daycare retreat recently. First we have a thread full of children being afraid of the dark, and another where some guy suggest we should all take first aid kits with us everywhere we rie, and now people are afraid of some shi**y images.
That "animal with the holes" is a frog, it carries it's young under a protective layer on it's back.
The whole forum needs a serious dose of MTFU

See, I don't have angst, because I'm not a teenager, and I don't let stupid things like the dark, funny noises, or weird pictures get to me.
You, however... Well. You certainly seem less well adjusted.

Floored by that? you really are pathetic.
I was conversing with cooldad, you pretentious little asswipe. Go back to cutting yourself and getting overemotional about things that wouldn;t scare a baby.
  • Can I just make an observation?

The thread title is "pathetic phobias" and yeeha calls out Trypophobia as being pathetic.
