Kreitler Rollers advice?

I am considering getting some Kreitler alloy or challenger rollers however not so sure whether I should go for the 3.0 or 2.25 size rollers. I have a threshold of about 300-315w looking to get it up to 330-350w if that helps. From what I have researched and reviewing the wattage chart of the different size rollers I think the 2.25 ones will suit the best though I'm not sure whether they will allow for sufficient recovery when doing intervals. I also want to be able to do steadier longer weekend type rides when the weather is particularly miserable. I'm not sure whether its a simple as just changing to the easiest gear for an easier ride (no previous roller experience, just turbo's).
The other option is to get the 3.0 then get the additional resistance wheel though I'd prefer not to spend the extra £100 if I can avoid it.

If anyone has experience with the 3.0 or 2.25 any advice would be great thanks, Leon

...oh and just one more question! Are the challengers sufficiently durable or is it advised to spend the extra cash and go with the alloy version with ali end caps. Seems a big step up in price for metal end caps. Does anyone know if there are other improvements in quality over the challenger version?0

I've got the challenger 3.0-plastic end caps.
They are good enough for what you are after doing-hard work in 53x12,save your £100 as the killer headwind unit makes training properly impossible.0 -
...just for anyone coming across this one, I thought I would give an update. The 2.25's ended up being good for me. Dropping in the easiest gear on a double is more than easy enough to recover from high intensity intervals.0
