Wrist pain

i've done a lot of road riding since I started about 3 years ago, but only recently i've started getting a fair bit of discomfort in my wrists.
I'm always altering my position on the bars to try and relieve the pain from certain areas of my wrists/hands, but it doesnt really help.
The last couple of rides, i've even had to ride (briefly) with one hand, alternating between hands.
I have increased the mileage a bit over the last month or so, but not drastically.
I'm doing about 150-200 miles a week.
I'm wearing padded gloves which I think help a bit. But obviously not enough.
Any ideas?

How recently?
I have been getting pain in my wrists and feet for the last 2 weeks.
I'm pretty sure it is caused by a virus that is going around.
My "cold" symptoms are quite mild, but I think the virus has been causing this unusual joint pain.

Thanks Geebee, thats interesting.
I would say its increased over the last two weeks actually.
I've also had mild cold symptoms, for quite some time actually. Often seem to be sneezing, getting slight headaches, and blowing a fair few "snot rockets" while out riding too :oops:0 -
I'll also add, that i have been getting discomfort in other joints - mainly knees and ankles... so that makes it more likely it could be a virus I guess.
Question is, do I cycle through it, or rest up for a while?0 -
Take it easy if you think you are carrying an infection - at least until you know whether its going to get worse or not. And naturally any sign of fever or inflammation (rather than just discomfort) would mean you should not make things potentially much worse by iding much.0

I suggest taking it easy, and some Ibuprofen, which should help reduce inflammation.
That's what I have been doing.
I'm hoping I will be ok for an autumn club tour Friday to Sunday.0
