Bruise like pain on VMO

Hi
Have ramped my cycling & running in the last few weeks (time & intensity) - big nono but I couldnt resist.
I have noticed that I have a bruise like pain on my VMO muscle near the knee cap.
Doesnt hurt to run,but very slightly noticable when I cycle. Mainly notice it when standing (in normal day life, not standing on the pedals) and I tense that muscle. Does it sound like overuse?
Thanks

I've had a similar thing with running and cycling. Its my cleat position/natural foot position on the bike which pulls the muscle into a certain position. When I run, the muscle relaxes back to its natural state......with a fair amount of pain. Lay off one or the other activity and see if it subsides. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.0
