The Stratosphere won't make the UK as has been specced by Verizon (you don't have LTE in UK).
I'd say it could be worth waiting to see if the the next Nexus phone comes with GSM and HSPA radios... that could be the one to get (should be available Nov)
Otherwise it's iPhone 5, Nokia's Windows Phone handset or the Vigor.Formally known as Coatbridgeguy0 -
Clearly it's iPhone time. If you don't want to pay for the 5 get the 4 should be big price drop once the new model is out. Plus I hear some guy is working on a lime and string app.....All hail the FSM and his noodly appendage!0

Nokia's Win Phone hasn't been given out to anyone yet so don't know how your pals can slate it (unless they're slating the Operating System).
I've bought myself a Samsung Omnia 7 which wife's cousin is bringing back from the US next week. If I had had the option I would either be holding off for the HTC Titan or the Nokia WP device but due to the cost of phones here (and lack of people we know going to the US in the next few months) I've went for the older phone (also have the advantage of it being half the price of a Galaxy S2...will be less pissed off if it gets stolen haha)Formally known as Coatbridgeguy0 -
djbarren well you should give us feedback if you move away from apple because I am worried I'll never be able to own a different phone. Apple totally own me.All hail the FSM and his noodly appendage!0

Ugh, Android, it just sucks.. ask me, I have an Android phone and really, after all the hype about Android, I was and still am oh, so very disappointed
It reminds me of Symbian with a shortcut driven wallpaper function, however the underlying menu is not quite as good as Nokia's Symbian.
As for the Windows phone, we have them at work, slow, clunky and just very typical of a first edition phone OS with weekly updates and bug fixes.
I'd give Windows Mobiles another 12-18 months before they can shine any meaningful light on the smartphone market.
iPhone 5? Just another Apple'esque "same as before with a few new functions" upgrade, as seen from the 3G to 3GS to 4, but admittedly the 4 was a huge improvement over the 3G classic, but a minor step forward over the 3GS. FaceTime rocks though, I use it to communicate with the girlfriend who lives in France and my son who lives 10,000KM away.
My son junked his iPhone and swears by his Blackberry. However RIM are in a world of sh*t with shares plummeting and I expect them to either be bought out or end up selling all their IP to appease shareholders who are expecting Apple like dividends from RIM which in essence a small company punching way above its weight..
It's a buyers market out there with lots of choices. One thing for sure is I will never, ever spend any of my own cash on an Android phone. As pretty as the cases are, as good as the camera may be, Android sucks hemorrhoids0 -
They're right about the current operating systems on Nokia (i.e. Symbian). One of the reasons why I'm expecting big things from the new stuff is that it's Microsoft doing the software...that combined with Nokia's great build quality promises a lot.
A big part of my decision is down to me being a bit bored with Android. I had been looking at getting a Pre 3 with webOS but HP binned the whole phone/tablet division after 7 weeks. Not interested in getting an iPhone, won't touch Blackberry until they bring out their QNX phones (even the, big doubts with them); this leaves Windows Phone (of which, the Omnia 7 is the best model out currently).
If I mind right, the next Android version (Ice Cream Sandwich) will be out in November. It could even be worth holding off until then to see what new stuff comes out then.Formally known as Coatbridgeguy0 -

That's because the average person is a cheesewand and is easily fooled by the hype. the same reason they watch X factor and read celebrity magazines...0 -

Isn't that Apple's basic marketing strategy though?Formally known as Coatbridgeguy0 -
I'm obviously an anachronism here. After progressing through Motorola (1991/2?) to Ericsson to Nokia when Sony ruined them, I've just got an HTC Desire S and I must say it is an excellent phone - nice clear sound, and big screen and numbers for elderly failing eyes.
Also has a clock and helpful cloudy/rainy sunny thing on the front to tell me what's happening outside.
I believe it does other exciting things that appeal to children. They should give one to all the poor kids in Somalia.I don't do smileys.

Just a shame the Microsoft trojan CEO crapped all over Symbian and decided the way forward was to promote the one mobile OS that's right at the bottom of the pile. Yeah, all because it has a built in "ecosystem". Yeah, an ecosystem of a couple of people who actually develop for it.
That's not to say Win Phone 7 is bad. It's okay. It's just it'll take years to get anywhere and by that time Nokia will have gone bust and resorted to going back to making tyres.0 -
Stay away from anything windows based... I've for WP7 on mine and although I thought it was good at 1st, I now find it to be completely and utterly boring and shite.
Also been announced in the gadget world that the WP7 is a complete failure and its expected to fade out rather quickly.... theyre already working on WP8.0 -

don't be a dickchump.
But as WP7 was such an epic failure, why would WP8 be any better?
My point was that, take iPhone for instance, the software has been slowly upgraded with time and applied to each handset. Although I know some features only applied to the newer models.
Same goes with Android apart from the phones that were unable to support newer software.
However WP8 will replace WP7 and not be available to any current handsets running WP7 as far as I can find out on the web. the phone has to be supplied with it. Typical microsoft forgetting about current users and only focusing on bringing out more "up to date" software.
WP8 isn't even out yet and there is already talk of a WP9.0 -

Are you purposely saying the exact opposite of how things are?
This is too stupid for even the crudcatcher.
It's not even just stupid, it's beyond moronic. It's frankly, poisonous.0 -

Sensation is amazing, as mentioned avoid Windows Mobile and Especially Apple. The runner up for me is the Samsung range.
If you're not into speed and buying you can do some impressive work to the HD2, I sold one and regret it now. Yes a windows phone, but after the boot loader is bypassed and Android installed it can out perform a great deal of handsets.0 -

100% agree, don't even get me started on the MS market place!0 -
this is gen up: i heard they were going to run iphone software inside the next generation of windows phones under license as the apple format is better than microsoft could muster.
itll basicly be like using an iphone but the phone will have a couple of extra buttons.0 -

Surely it can't be as bad as the Android one (where most of the stuff is either malware or won't work on your handset due to fragmentation)?

And this from a linux based OS. Where is all the "I'm safe, I use linux" now?0
