  • oh and ginge's pearson has drops because if he was to sit up at his speed with his light frame (body) he'd likely snap in half as air resistance took effect.

most fixed gears i've seen are flat barred in both shops and on the road. if you want to go hunting headup north into the wilds of shoreditch...

there you go. That's a definition.

No they don't all have seats or handle bars or brakes

    errr...

bike is short for bicycle in which bi means 'two' as in two wheels. Hence the words unicycle and tricycle etc...

So you can't even get that bit right.

Eh? Have you even seen a track bike? They aren't just fixed road bikes with no brakes

They kind of are, aren't they? I mean you could commute on a track bike, and race on a fixed road bike once the brakes have been removed.

Watch out here comes the geek  Not quite the BB height is completely wrong on a standard road bike, it wouldn't be allowed on a track, let alone race. You need a BB of no less then 280mm iirc which changes the geometry and makes them handle very differently to road bikes.

Time to put the geek back in his box

DDD riding fixed is fun. It does feel different from a bike with a freewheel (in a good way) but I don't think its for you. The gear you'd need to get up Col de Balham would leave you too spinny on the flat.

Pearson Douche - drops, Cannondale Capon - drops, Specialized Langster - drops. They were based on track bikes or track bikes were based on them.

Have you seen Langster frame geometry? It's closer to hybrid than track. Langster steel is a bit more classic sure but Alu isn't anything close to a track frame.
Yes, I do commute on one.

Fixed that. (said the man currently at home in a sling feeling sorry for himself)

Did you stay attached to the bike?

Nope. Flat pedals (no clips) meant the bike and I went our seperate ways.

Ow. Fixed gear without foot retention? Why would you do that?
