The standard of driving in the UK is generally higher than any other country I've ever driven in.
Just an observation.- - - - - - - - - -

the polar opposite of my observation. ive found driving in the uk to be dreadful. and before you ask, yes i got my driving test 1st time out after six half hour lessons.0 -
Stupid thread.
You will find bad driving in any type of vehicle/person you choose to look.
The truth is van drivers/X5 drivers are probably no worse than a twat in a Volvo or anyone else.
You think they're worse because you've decided they are.0 -

Erhh, male or female?
Given the current tone of the thread, males. Called Joseph. Wearing 501s, a black merino pullover, teal socks and tan loafers bought in a concession department from John Lewis on a cold but sunny Saturday morning. After nibbling on a lazy breakfast of eggs benedict followed by wholemeal bread with rough cut marmalade all washed down with two large mugs of Waitrose medium roast coffee and followed with a large, gently warmed pain au chocolat.
They're all utterly useless at driving and are a constant menace to cyclists.
And you should them trying to park.0 -
The most dangerous vehicles around here are any that have yellow number plates on the back.0

I'm not questioning your qualifications in terms of your own skills, but may I ask where else in the world you've driven or ridden? Only Germany springs to mind when I try to think of better drivers.- - - - - - - - - -

I nearly got hit by a caravan earlier (the position of the car was fine, but the caravan was much wider) , so I am adding them to the list.
But then, most road users are out to get you.0 -

No, they're normally out to go to the shops. It's just you inconveniently get in the way.0 -

Ditto. Standard of driving in NZ is pretty poor. My g/f - who is a far better driver than I am - believes that Kiwi drivers lack spatial awareness. Many are simply discourteous.
As a cyclist I generally have more issues with the drivers of large vehicles than the drivers of small ones. Buses, vans and bloated SUVs that take up so much of the road that when they meet on these narrow roads it's like two sumos in a corridor. I'm not comfortable with the SUV-woman stereotyping though. I think there's a pernicious blend of sexism and class resentment at work here. Problem is the size of the vehicle, not the gender of the driver.0 -
Oh that's another thing. Even if you are at/ just over the speed limit you still get idiots determined to overtake you, then cut you off, WHY?
And the stupid bitch the other day, who overtook me, then 30 seconds later went to turn left. Saw I was still on her arse and panicked, she froze, just stopped dead in the road! when I knew she was turning and was in the middle of the road. I just kept going lol.
I could of on about this all night..0 -
