I'd never thought of the alternative option - yeah even that would be neat, wouldn't it?

Afon doesn't run by it, it passes right by the end of "Abel", which is about a hundred feet lower down.

Go faster it doesn't get more chattery... Go faster and you start to float over the rocks at speed.... this is why i always say learning to ride rocks takes time if you find it overly chattery you not quite getting it right.

You're on a big FS, which makes things different. But if it smooths out doesn't that mean the trail is featureless and smooth?

I'm not saying a lumpy surface is bad, it's a mountainbike after all, just that I'd rather have features than a lumpy surface, preferably both though.

NOW, I am, yes. But for years I and everyone else, rode the same trails on rigids.
    Don't start making excuses.

    Excuses for what?

I'm not saying that I can't ride it.

I said it was like riding cobbles on a road bike, I can do it, I'm just aware the ground isn't a bowling green.

Depends what speed you're starting at, otherwise who's to say what "faster" means. Walking pace it's just bumps, go faster to 10-15mph it's more chattery , 25mph+ you 'float' when you get it right, as I can assure you and thewaylander I did. Which is why it was boring, it felt smooth and there were very few features compared to where I'm used to riding.

But now you've made me say it was boring, waylander won't be happy!

    I'm super-stoked gnarcore.

I should clarify, I meant boring compared to other trail centres.

Some/all of it is obviously personal preference. Like you, I enjoyed Llandegla, I loved Whinlatter, I think that had the perfect match of technical rockiness underfoot with plenty of berms, rollers, jumps etc

The first stuff is difficult, the latter is more fun, in my opinion.

  • I always take peoples comments about how fast they think going over rocks at cwm With a pinch of salt.

This is no insult to your personally as have no idea how fast you ride mate, But i find that 70% of people at Cwm think there going fast and they are really really slow... I know one thing for me though my wheels are rarely in contact with the groud there. and trying to rail those corners at speed is hard.

I also struggle with what people think are flowy trails as cannock certainly isn't, flowing meansto me you can maintain speed and cannock is alot of flat dull swtichbacks and berms put in places where there isnt really enough speed carried to warrent the berm.
Not unlike the new berms at the end of the freeride section in Cwm completely pointless in terms of positioning and true flow.

But as we always say each to their own if we were all the same it would be pretty dull
  • Rode this section as part of MBR at the weekend... it's nothing like the rest of the trail, but I found it enjoyable for that reason - it was different! Especially off the back of the fairly technical rocky descent that comes before it...

Just because it's 'easy' doesn't mean it can't be fun!

I enjoyed this section when I rode it. A little bit different. Dead easy but good fun I found. You can still go down the old bit if you want to!
