You've probably seen my other post about the new brakes I've ordered, So I thought new pedals too.

Was thinking of these, any better models for the price ?

@ gogogoftw, out of interest what SPDs do you use?

I'm an SPD man and looking to upgrade to something with a bit of a bigger platform like the M647 (Shimano)

They might cost a bit more but I like my superstar nanos. Got them to replace my DMR V12 and they're a lot better.

Best at most price points are Wellgo. MG1's are my choice.

Superstar Nano pedals are fantastic! Replaced my dmr v12's in January and as yet have had no problems with them. They come with a 2 year warranty and at £38.69 with free delivery are an absolute steal! :D
I have never been lost but I do admit to being confused for several weeks!

  • Superstar Nanos are a good pedal but the paint finish does not last half as long as DMR pedals, if you care about that sort of thing buy Nanos in silver.

I'm sure my lightning blue ones had an anodised finish :? It stood up pretty well really and when your feet are on the pedals only the nice blue bits are visible.

Got some Superstar Nanos too. Was running my Crank Bros for a while as I didn't have any decent shoes to go with the flats but my Vans Gravel arrived from CRC today so looking forward to trying them out.

I had to get 2 sets replaced under warranty as they keep seizing due to some internal plastic expanding - great pedals but build quality can be iffy

Superstar nano's in chrome all the way! I replaced a set of Gusset magnesium slim jim's and haven't looked back since. Grip better, look better, sealing appears better, more solid feel to the build, and won the pedal grouptest in this months mbuk to boot !

    nanos arriving tomorrow at work.

im going to fit these myself.

what are the essential tools ill need to remove the old ones and install these?

do i need to grease up the new ones before fitting?

if so what is the best thing to use?

Pedal spanner. Grease the threads. Torque up. That's it!
  • tank121
    tank121 Posts: 201
How do you know when the torque is right? What specific grease should i use?

Can any adjustable spanner be used or am I best a special one? if so which one?
  • A 15mm pedal spanner is useful, but not essential depending on your range of tools - a slim adjustable will do the same thing. I used copper grease on the threads of mine, it can help to stop them creaking.

    will not fit.

get the right tools for the job.

Or wait till you get your goods and then get the tools that fit.

Or save some money and buy from the LBS as the price will normally include fitting.

    and read parktools.
