Way calmer than I would have been. The couple of times I've been clipped, I've gone for frothing-at-the-mouth rage (not as a decision, just an instinctive reaction), which doesn't come across very well or get a sympathetic response. Glad you could have a word, too. I thought he was just driving off at one point - maybe he was thinking of it, but then thought better.

Oh, he said sorry LOTS

(also said he'd be a lot more patient in future, how it was completely his fault and hoped I was okay)

Nice clear footage; may I ask what camera you use?

My 7dayshop cheapie has just failed within 5 months (full refund), so wondering whether I should get another or save up for a more robust type.

@ DrLex: Contour HD 1080p, not cheap but you can see the benefits.

@rjsterry: you know it never even occured to me to be mad, especially as he had his hands out when he saw me. I genuinely think he was worried I was going to kick off the moment I got near him but really, as annoyed as I was, escalating things simply didn't enter my mind.

    Kieran,
Thanks for that- I'd best stop reading the "bargain" thread so as to save up.

Refreshing to see the chap stop & apologise; apparently there's a letter of apology coming from the van driver that caused me to crash, according to the PC dealing with the matter. It's been a month, so I assume standards of literacy match those of driving...

Good of the guy to stop. A lot of people would have fucked off or tried to blame the cyclist.

KB you sound nothing like I would have imagined.

Sort of sound like Hovis Bread, if that had a voice. Or a dude in a Hovis advert.

Anywho... chapeau for keeping calm, chapeau.

Myself and Keiran succombed to the temptation of an Amazon email screaming buy me. ContourHD cameras from £165, by time I weakened, two hours after getting the email the price had climbed to £175, by teatime it had climbed to £265. Normal price for the camera is £350 ish.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

DDD - I sound NOTHING like that normally. My voice is quite high for a bloke, but I was running on dry by that point (hence taking a swig mid conversation) as it was really warm and windy, so my throat was very dry.

He made a mistake, stopped, apologised and made sure you were OK. And you kept calm. I've been far less calm after a SMIDSY and in your case there was contact.

    Good example.

I guess it makes it much easier to be calm when he's apologising as you pull up.

Was a little surprised you didn't give it beans to catch up after the initial incident

Blimey, that was fantastic (well, other than the initial incident of course!).

Sat at my desk, I'd always argue that keeping calm is the best option in an incident like this, I just haven't been able to put that in to practice (thankfully not many opportunities to practice).

    £135!!!

    Wowzers!
However- since the seller is in New York, I think I'd prefer not to gamble on customs & VAT, coupled with any possible transit damage/ warranty issues.

I've also seen the the latest version has GPS & can link to your iPhone to make that the viewfinder & remote, so more saving required!
