Most kits comes all the way from China but it usually stops off at our local bike shop so they can add an extra few quid on the price tag.
Ahh, now your wrong there. My Mavic jersey was made in Vietnam!
    :D
The Vietnam factory probably outsourced to China, lol!!

It's because China is getting too expensive to manufacture low cost items, so they are being outsourced to lower cost countries. Vietnam is one of the new breed of low cost countries - expect to see more goods coming from them in the future.

I imagine that Mavic is using a manufacturer in Vietnam, due its colonial links with France. I know of a few French brands having their products made in Tunisia and Mauritius, so Vietnam would make sense from a historical and economic sense

Initially I cycled in rugby shorts and a helly hansen. I now have some black pearl izumi bibs (L) and a jersey made by a company called lusso as i find it hard to get jerseys that fit a rugby shape. Have to put up with tight shoulders and baggy middle and find a helly hansen marginally more comfy but dislike the lack of pouches.

I couldn't care less what I look like on a bike as I am there to sweat and get fit, not look pretty at coffee stops.

PS sizing can (as mentioned previously) vary wildly...try stuff on a lot.

We are currently migrating a lot of our manufacturing as well as design work to Vietnam, due to the rapidly rising wages in China.
Our company no longer recognises China as a 'low cost centre' any more.. Parts of South America are also now hot places for investment. China is still cheaper than the UK, but the 'savings factor' is not like it was 10 years ago.
