Stanleys' right, using language like "getting away with murder" is just Daily Mail stuff and helps nobody. It implies the Police are strolling around shooting people when they feel like it and then back to the station for a cuppa and a laugh.

Of course mistakes have been made, and I could easily believe that on ocassion they've been a little bit too eager to fire. And of course if you're one of de Menezes' family knowing that the police genuinely thought he was a serious threat isn't much comfort. Now if the Police were running round thinking "It's all going off, good excuse to shoot someone.... there! He'll do!" then that'd be different, but I don't think anyone seriously believes that's what happened.

But lamentable as they are I don't think what happened to de Menezes, Harry Stanley, and Ian Tomlinson are murder, so why not save that for actual murders?

    I'm being a little facetious.

The point is police have been known to kill someone and not put anyone in prison even for manslaughter. Menezes is a prime example. Surely someone should have take an sentence for that? Someone died after all. In almost any other situation where someone dies accidentally or wrongly someone usually ends up prosecuted.

Now, I understand that the police are in a unique situation and they need to have the ability to do that kind of thing to keep people safe etc, but those examples don't make people feel that much safer.

It's a grey and complex area, but it's not too difficult to see how people who are already sceptical of the protection police provide them can interpret those incidents.

Agreed, it's easy to see how it can look if your experience of the police is probably very different from most people on here.

Theresa May go, one can hope. She is way out of her depth as they all are. Twice I have heard her on the radio and each time she comes across as a clueless ..... But Cleggers is the most clueless ............ At least with Cameron you expect him to be out of touch as he's a public school Tory, oh so is Cleggers. Forgot. Well there you go.
Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.
Think how stupid the average person is.......
half of them are even more stupid than you first thought.
