What should I buy?... Trainer or Rollers

Always fancied doing a bit of extra training thru the cold winter nights but never really had the space indoors. New garage and a birthday soon means I can treat myself... but what to buy? Can I alter the resistance on rollers? Are trainers stable enough? Help me out here folks.
PS - My wife might use them too but she's a little nervous so nothing too extreme.
Cheers

There are some rollers where you can change the resistance.

I would say if you are going to be using it to make up for not getting out over winter use the rollers. They are more enjoyable as you have to concentrate and time does past (slightly) faster. They do take a bit of getting used to though.

I find turbos very good for specific intervals where you really need to dig hard and not concentrate of anything but pedalling but because of this they can be a bit more of a bore.

If you are new to indoor training I advise some sort of entertainment (sufferfest vids are good if you can get a laptop or something in your garage).

Why is it either/or? Get both. I did, and I'm glad.
