First up try doing one! you'll have to be quick with Club 10's as many clubs season's finish soon.

When you have braved one try another and then you can begin to worry about what training to do!

    Remember to enjoy it!

    +1. Best training for a '10' is to do a '10'.

Just go along to a local club event (not Opens, they're advance entry only) and give it a go. You don't need any special kit, some people turn up on MTBs wearing baggies and a t-shirt. Just give it a go.
Aspire not to have more, but to be more.

    10 miles

As hard as you can without blowing up. Pacing is an art that takes a while to learn, but for a 10 just smash yourself, it cab be surprisingly effective.

Which is what I used to think, then I applied some intelligent pacing and whipped nearly 2 mins off my 10 times 8)
  • Similar boat myself. My pal just happened upon our local clubs TT last week. We are now planning to tag along on this weeks ride. We had a practise ride of the one from last week and i got a 28.35 which i know isnt amazing but hey ho. We are riding this weeks one as a practise on tuesday so we know what to expect.

Whats the worst that can happen. I will be guarenteed a Pb and will have something to aim at for next time.

With regards to pacing. I tried to get to 5mls at about 20mph average and then tank it for the balance. Not very scientific but there you go
