    what are breats

I don't think these bikes will affect Pinarello's sales as people who can afford the real things will still buy them. Those who can't afford them can at least have something very similar whether its right or wrong.

I would never be able to feel satisfied. It may look nearly as nice as a real Pinarello, but the experience of buying and enjoying the bike is lost, you could never show it off with genuine pride. Also it would never last aslong as a real friend with no one to turn to if things went wrong, its sale price being nothing (unless sold to an unsuspecting buyer.)
For these reasons as nice as it looks I just dont feel the same level of enjoyment and security could be felt on a copy such as that?
Still looks lovely for the money though!
I have no intention of selling mine. I don,t go posing on it either. I cycle almost always alone and once and a while i meet someone along the way and we have a conversation. When i,m asked about the bike i tell them exactly what it is and could not care less what they or anyone else thinks.I don,t know how you can say that the experience of buying and enjoying the bike is lost as it,s not a genuine pinarello. Personally i buy a bike to ride it and not to show it off to my friends or the general public.

This is not different than buying a $25 Rolex in Canal St, NYC....

If it looks like a fake and it smells like a fake, it must be a fake...If I was ever to buy such a thing, I'd rather have a "Cinarello" sticker on the downtube with "Dogpoo" on the seat-tube and "Camchatnolo Boba" on the wheels

I'd then be wearing a matching "Kasteni" jersey with a "Chiro" helmet and "Oakchy" sunglasses

At least if I look like a joke people might get it....
  • If it makes you smile when you ride it, who cares?

Some people on here would rather squit on someone's pride & joy than say anything positive.

Good on ya. It's a thumbs up from me! 8)
It takes seventeen muscles to smile but only four to operate a standard issue sniper rifle.

i agree. as long as you don't try n fool ppl that its the real thing and are happy with it its all good! my only concern for a fellow cyclist is the issue of safety, i would probably keep a close eye on cracks that can develop into metal failure and endanger you - but if u cycle in Holland, you've got nice flat smooth surfaces..

after all fellas, come on, the dude likes the design of the dogma - so what! its not like there are cheaper alternatives to such a unique looking bike in a lower price range.

    ride hard and fast buddy!

Surely it will affect Pinarello, because the resale values will drop if people can't be sure of the provenance of any bikes on eBay etc?
  • Looks good but i would not buy a Primark t-shirt and put a Rapha logo on it! would rather have a £1000 Alu cannondale synapse with 105.

So why sticker it up as a Pinarello then?

I'm not really having a go, if you've decided that the frame is near-as-dammit the same as a Dogma and don't feel the premium for a genuine Pinarello is worth it then fair enough, it's a canny buy.

But I don't really get why you'd then dress it up as if trying to make out it's a real one.

I would rather ride that than that cheap fake s**t, also that seat post looks about 5 inch plus, where do you get 3 inches from? oh i bet its when you have your c**k in your hand
    I own a dogma to,a real one.
By all means buy cheap s**t but dont label it as pinarello and campagnolo bora as its an insult.
I bet you are one of these guys that buy cheap s**t to.

    ahahaahahahah, tampons.

Sorry marky i wanted to mock you for your ego post, i do like ur colour scheme alot and of cause seat post size has nothing to do with anything, but sadly i hate dogma's, as ive spent last month building about 30 of them for team gb, they are very weighty(as pro carbon frames go), i think the forks are a passing fad and if i have to see another i may go insane lol. I'd never buy a chinese frame myself as I can afford to get an over priced one, but I don't disagree with others getting them, think its a wonderful solution which i encourage. And I ride a bmc pro machine.

There is a shocking thread on weight weenies about these cheap frames. Some poor bloke did the same as you and within ten minutes of its maiden voyage his face was smashed to pieces on the tarmac as the steerer snapped from the fork and they found that the forks were stuffed with paper. When WW is back online I will link to it.

Personally, I think the old adage of you pay your money etc etc but lets not get personal about it.

If I was in the market for a bike I would deffo consider going down this route as I like getting value for money and it looks great to boot. The past couple of years the big companies have totally shafted us as prices have risen disproportionally with demand and only end of season sales represent fairly true value of its worth but I guess something's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I haven't bought any new tops or bibs for over a year because of the prices and even as the sales trickle in I'm still apprehensive. Its not that I can't afford it which is another reason why the Chinese copies are so popular but their quality is debatably similar or getting there. I was in the market for a new helmet not long ago and saw the Giro prolite helmet prices sky rocket. I liked the look of the BBB falcons as used in the peloton but settled on a BBB everest which is an exact copy of the Falcon in MTB guise for virtually half its price with a better colour scheme. I think they've cottoned on and its more than double the price now. As with everything you are going to get people who love it, loathe it and those that just don't care and are happy with what they have which is the main thing.

Hi Can you tell me where you got the frameset? I am thinking of ordering one, but don't know which company to use. Also how do you like it so far?

Aren't Pinarello's reserved for rich surrey folk dressed head to toe in Sky kit pretending to be the next Wiggo.... Who would want to have a copy of such a bike ;)

I've never once seen a Pinarello round my way; I pass by a lot of cyclists.

I thought about buying a frame from China recently but always had this fear at the back of my mind

Stuffed with paper? Sounds dodgy, I heard a story about padded jacks that reinactors wear under armour plates that come from India being stuffed with dirty bandages so at least it's not that! I'd rather buy something cheaper and real, at least you have someone to shout at when it breaks rather than some nameless guy on eBay who won't be there in a year... That said, the bike looks good, your average Joe on the street would never tell the difference.

interested to see this weightweenies post.........

I was involved in the discussion on the weight weenies post. I,ve tried to find it but it,s just not there as far as i can see. In a nutshell somebody shows pictures of a broken Chinarello and go,s on to say that it broke maiden voyage and the rider had serious facial injuries and was off work for a long period and accumulated substantial medical bills. However i noticed that in the pictures of supposedly the same crash the Chinarello in question is shown with Continental GP4000S tyres in one picture and different tyres in another picture of allegedly the same crash.
I also own a Chinarello so obviously pointed this out at which point one of the other forum members got rather pissed off with my post and started telling everybody about the catastrophic failiures he,s encountered in America. This forum member turns out to be a bike shop owner and after a bit of niggling from my side the thread was blocked.
In short this forum member was just calling the chinarello s crap and unroadworthy and anyone who buys one is taking there life in there hands i said he,s talking out of his ar@e.If this post can be found by somebody then you will see what i mean. By the way i,m taking it that this IS the post that BR forum members are referring to.
