Wellgo V8 - Grrrrrr.Rubbish ?

So i bought a set of Wellgo's V8's. They're making a bit of a noise... so i took them apart (cap and nut) and without the nut they run free and nice... soon as you put some pressure on the nut they grind like a nightmare...
Now i've only used these for 150 miles or so... even though cheap, i expect better.
So... am i missing something and the nut doesn't need to be tight ? As it's not a nylock nut i'd guess it will come off... Maybe a nylock will give me a resolution.
May not be an issue as i swapped to Candy C SPD's today, but don't know how long they'll last as i'm still not convinced by the whole SPD debate.

You don't just tighten the nut - they are an adjustable cup and cone bearing - you need to hold the cone then tighten the nut.0

Yes sir, i worked that out... however that's when the problem arises.
As for the MG1, i wouldn't wipe my backside with Wellgos now.Salsa Spearfish 29er

Sometimes you have to use a thin bladed screwdriver to hold the washer/cone to adjust.0 -

Thanks for that... however for a pair of £12 pedals i won't bother doing that.Salsa Spearfish 29er

Mg1 use a bushing and cartridge bearing - infact the same ones found on a vast array of pedals, as Wellgo make pedals for loads of people. These require no adjustment (the V8s are designed to go through this strip, clean and service every so often). Saying that, all pedals require some maintenance.0

Erm, I think you ARE missing something, yes. Complaining because they grind when you don;t do a proper job? Quite curious.0 -

Agree, i have the B54's and just slipping a pedal hurts enough but i guess it'd make a right mess of the softer tissueWhat if your dreams and fears existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven, you had to brave hell? What if everything you've ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?0 -

I've used them 4 times and never even in the rain... that IMO is not something that should require ANY job at all.Salsa Spearfish 29er

You've already taken them apart though, and it sounds like you didn't bother to put them back together properly.0

I took them apart because they were making a horrible noise after 4 dry rides.Salsa Spearfish 29er
