Have to say that it's a crap deal for fans of the sport. Sky have said they won't do adverts during the race but that's cold comfort to the people who'll have to fork out to get Sky Sports.
Hoping the sponsors tell Bernie to bin this deal as they basically get advertising on a channel which doesn't have advertising (so it's not as if they can purchase their own airtime).
As for BBC having adverts...or "in association with"... if they started that then they would come under huge pressure to bin the licence fee. Do that and you have ITV. You do get adverts on their international stuff (random adverts for Ukraine, Qatar Airways and Rolex) but that's pretty much a completely separate entity.
As a side note, I see they've finally brought out the international version of iPlayer. 7 Euros a month of 50 for the year. I'd pay it in a heart beat if it wasn't for the fact it is only in 11 countries (surprisingly, Uruguay is not on that list), and it's iPad only.

And we're already paying for it once with the licence fee, and that just goes to show repeats of every piece of carp they can dig out of the deepest gutter they could find at the time."Youth's a mask, but it don't last
live it long and live it fast."

There, I said it.
They could condense the interesting stuff in the olympics down to a one hour TV programme.

Nah, shorter... more like the length of a weather report on Family Guy.

Don't even get me started on the Olympics.

I agree, the Olympics should be replaced by Formula 10 -

Contractually I don't think they can, they, like the BBC, have to take the F1 feed, which is why you don't currently get cutaways to the jake, eddie and dave show during the race.0 -
We get adverts during the races over here... and adverts that pop up in the bottom of the screen as well (we also get this with football...very annoying)Formally known as Coatbridgeguy0

Was gutted to read this today :x Just hope martin blundell stays with bbc, we can see if live on the i-player can we not?
if so just link the tv up to the pc0 -
From what I can tell it will only be live on Sky
You won't get it live on any other form of broadcast except for the half of the races that the BBC will have
Also the BBC will show edited highlights of the races that they do not show live, I guess it'll be a bit like a MOTD edited highlights programme
All of which sucks donkey dong big time0 -

As Toyota said a few years ago when they talked about the team spending limit "we spend more money on developing door handles......"What if your dreams and fears existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven, you had to brave hell? What if everything you've ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?0 -
Yep, it always seems that the powers that be in F1 are trying to crack down on the teams being creative in finding ways of going faster - which is kind of the whole point. I remember when they had the 1,500bhp turbos - one driver said he literally p1ssed himself in qualifying sessions they were so fast
Just think how much entertainment could be had from a 'no holds barred' F1 series where anything within reason goes (.e. barring stuff like Bodicea type spikes on the wheels and weapons). But that's a different debate..."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Hell yes, unrestricted development is the way forwards. That way, they MUST eventually arrive at the "Wipeout" game0

Ooh yeah, celebrity death F1 featuring Peaches Geldof, Barry from Eastenders and any members of the Sugarbabes past or present (except Mutya, I like her sausageyness)0
