Some of it looks ok, bike stand, wireless computer, jackets, pumps etc....Just wish they did full team kits with LIDL on them. More chance of a roadie nodding at a MTB'er than a TEAM LIDL roadie!!!! I'd wear one, that's for sure....:D

Got a mate who works at Lidl so am going to try and get a stand put to one side for me, was only talking about them the other day and was wondering when they would be on sale again
What if your dreams and fears existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven, you had to brave hell? What if everything you've ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?

  • I've never had a stand but tbh I'm coming round to the idea, fed up working on it and the steering folding in and it falling over...even on calm days a mystery gust always appears when you go for the tool you've forgotten. Would make setting the gears easier too, I only know how to do this with the bike upside down! 30 green queens sounds in my price range too....

Has anyone got one of these stands? Does the bike clamp keep slipping or is it quite secure and sturdy? Very tempted by one. Might just get one anyway, for 30 quid, i havent lost much!

I'd be interested to know how good the clamp is too, as I would probably have to clamp the mtb on the downtube.

clamping anywhere other than the seat post is a bad bad idea.

Why? I usually clamp the top tube. Why is the seat post better?

Just thought I'd say my bike has never been clamped on the frame before (as I don't have a stand yet) but, I have seen bikes clamped this way before in certain shops and on the t'internet.

Why is it best to use the seatpost? Is it stronger tubing than the frame?

Seatpost's are meant to be clamped. Top/ bottom/ other tubes are NOT.

Clamping the centre of a top tube is bad practice as that is where most of the internal butting is making it the weakest (read thinnest sidewall) point.

If my bike ever needs to go to a shop then, I now know which ones to avoid :D

  • Would that be an issue with a steel frame(Inbred) or just thin walled aluminum(just love the US spelling, awesome!)?

Well I've just got back from LIDL... as usual, no clothing that I wanted left (in my size atleast) but, I did manage to get a workstand :D

Just had a quick look in the box and it seems to be fairly well made, I'll post back a full report once I've got it home and all set up. First impressions are good though.

I went in at 09h00 and they had 3 workstands left. The cashier told me they had 15 when the doors opened. I still sort of rue buying only one...

They do have a 3 year warranty and are damned fine workstands for the price

The rest of the stuff was gash, cheapo computers (yes, I am a CatEye fan), granny saddle covers, horrendous jackets and foot pumps from hell...

i picked up one of the workstands, quite a few left by the one where I work. Also had a pair of the leggings to wear over the winter, will have to see what they're like when I get home though!

I picked up a couple pairs of leggings and a compression vest. Seams good for training gear. Although the leggings waist area seams big, and the legs are tight. Perhaps i need to grow a beer belly? Well worth the £9 each though.
I got there just in time @ 9.00am almost nothing left.

It's pay day today too. I'm going down there asap to get a workstand. It looks fine to me and I was going to get one soon anyway. Let's hope there's one left...
    Many happy trails!
  • the weight according to my scales 7.5kg.
  • I got one of the wireless computers. Have to say, it feels very cheap and I'm not convinced it'll be particularly water resistant. Still, time will tell.

Also got one of the mini foot pumps for, err... no reason at all! I've already got various track stands and mini-pumps knocking about. It just looked so handy and dinky.

Tempted by the workstand, but I couldn't carry it on my bike this morning.

Bought the workstand and wireless computer today.

Both awesome VFM! only critisism of the computer is that it can only be bar mounted with no option for stem mounting, but for £6.99 I'm not complaining!

    Bargaintastic!!
  • It's official: the mini footpump is rubbish.
