Hmmm, I am no downhiller so I may not be the best person to ask! The blue dh trails at Chatel and Les Gets are about my limit, we have also done a fair amount of exploring more xc trails which has been good. Deffo bring serious mud tyres (I am running 2.35 swamp things), lots of kit and a sense of humour
The roots here are frigging slippy
Haven't done much bar exploring but bar Robinson seems to be the place to be!
You'll have a great time - just take it easy when you first get here. I am a pretty decent rider and it's a step WAY above UK trails.... Notax is very good and managed to mash himself 15 mins into the first ride. Trust me that it's better to ride it slower to start with, and then nail it afterwards!Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
Riding a gorgeous ano orange Turner Burner!

When it rains in Les Gets, it REALLY rains.
There's a reason why their DH track was renowned for being the muddiest on the planet - and the inspiration behind Maxxis' Wetscream tyres!0 -
Hmm... I'm packin 2.5 highrollers and nowt else. I'll survive on em.
I heard about Notax in your other thread, hope he's well! You'd best be sending him loads of pictures to rub it in 8)
Is there any kayaking out there we can do if it's raining cannonballs?0 -
Like a lot of things, thinking about it is worse than doing it, and I always find when I'm out there it's ok.
Or, as per Billy Connolly: "There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes"!2011 Cannondale Trail SL 29er HERE0 -
Its half the fun of riding... getting soaked through adn covered in mud, as long as its easy to get home and clean afterwards I never let that put me off.... not so much fun if you are camping with the bikes!
I bought my new Cube last week and the weather was shocking... I thought twice about gong out but still headed out for a river ride... got caked in sticky mud, had to stop to unblock the tyres for some frame clearance at one point!
But loved every moment, then got home and cleaned it all up!
Think I'll need some better tyres from the Schwalbe Smart Sam's for the winter!....DaZeD aNd CoNfUsEd....0 -
This summer has actually seen a surprising amount of use from my Maxxis Swampthings :?0

5 days of riding in the rain is getting a little depressing. I could be doing this in England....
Enjoy the rest of your week. Many happy trails!0 -
Oh yeah, get out in the rain. It's fun to be outside. Just make sure you chain etc is dry, lube it up and put it away. Riding in the rain can be just as much fun. Get out there and enjoy it.Many happy trails!0

What you need is a really nice ice cold glass of MTFU!!!
As previously said haha0 -
As usual when I put my gear on earlier it then started spitting, 4 miles out and it was peeing down big time here in Perth(down here at work).
The forecasters should really just give up it wasn't even close on xcweather and metcheck....
But it was ok I suppose, just got on with it.... 8) No other choice !!!0 -
I don't mind riding in the rain at all but the wind can f*ck right offWhether you're a king or a little street sweeper, sooner or later you'll dance with the reaper.

Some of my most memorable rides were in the rain, but yeah some of the most forgettable ones have been in wind/rain.
Also correct clothing choice is important..0
