I might be at Afan Monster too so I may run into you (not literally, that would be mean), it's a good event eh.
S'il vous plait. Un biere pour monsieur Notax. Merci.
Good point re camera - I've got my Gopro here so will give it to someone else - filming me using the iPad wouldn't be too exciting after all...
I'm completely hopeless with technical editing (well anything technical tbh) so would no doubt need far more than a week to master it!0 -
 just seen this, hope the injury heals soon, from the last crash i had i found arnica to be my best friend, seemed to get the blood flowing, but i am sure a few jaegermeisters would have the same effect!
Just remember to wash it off before picking up any limes and string!0 -
I might be wrong but I'm sure I heard that the latest train of thought about neck braces and whiplash injuries was that they weren't necessarily such a good idea? :?

Not that I'm a doctor or anything, so maybe don't listen to me 8)0 -
Hi Chris,
Totally gutted for you mate. Gutted for Sarah as well. Sending healing vibes your way. Hope you get back on the bike soon. Important question though, is the bike okay?
Sarah, if it's still damp over there, take it steady. PdS gets really greasy when wet.0 -
Onzadog is steve In real life btw....!0

That's no good GWS dude.
Miraculously I saved my proper stack for the last half mile of the last descent of the last day of the holiday, what are the odds of thatUncompromising extremist0 -
Well, back from the first full day riding and WOW
Fab day - I won't go on about it too much to avoid making Notax too jealous, but it was quite an epic! Raining most of the day and actually snowing at one point (high up!) but very wet and sloppy. Today I am mostly loving my full face helmet (saved my teeth after a rather over-enthusiastic jump on the blue Chatel dh trail  ) and my new gravity dropper seat post. It's my new favourite thing and well worth the money!
Here's to a sunnier week and Notax not getting too boredLife is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
Riding a gorgeous ano orange Turner Burner!

Thanks, I had heard the same too. My neck was really bad yesterday but today I've risked not using the collar - then went for a walk and tripped over a dog! Have some neck movement now so it is improving0 -

Good to see that you've posted on here as much as me! Bike is fine - it stopped dead, shame I didn't... Getting bored now so may take the bike out tomorrow pm around town to how I get on0 -
Notax wrote:gb2gw wrote:Thanks Rosie, it makes a big change for me to have nothing to do - and at the moment I'm quite enjoying it 8) Whether I'll feel the same in another week remains to be seen...
Well that didn't take long At 1.15pm you were 'quite enjoying it'. 4 hours later boredom has set in and you're contemplating taking the bike out. Glad you're seeing a bit of improvement with it though. Keep that up!
Also glad you had a fab day too Sarah I came a cropper on the blue DH in Chatel in the rain as well. Slippery little sucker intit!0 -
Yes, boredom quickly set in! Went for a walk without my neck brace and saw the medics who weren't too impressed...just as well they didn't see me today as I did a 15 minute bike ride
Riding is quite uncomfy, esp as you have to cant your neck back more than I realised. But I've just invested in some knee and shin pads for the first time ever and intend to have a gentle go on the rough stuff tomorrow 8) Ironically in spite of 7 alp trips both times I've injured myself pads wouldn't have helped at all - but with the current run of luck and the fact it is super wet and slippy I thought I'd be vaguely sensible (whilst completely ignoring medical advice  )
Wish me luck...0 -
The Tour has just hit the Alps? Go and watch that, get blitzed too....! 8)0

Just back from a 3 hour trip with Miss Notax 8) Weather in Morzine still awful but we followed the easy river trail and then did a short road climb to a nice (albeit tame) single track descent through a wood. Miss NT is riding well and her new full face lid has certainly improved her confidence (although she looks like a robo dwaff!)
My neck stood up pretty well so hoping to try something a little more interesting tomorrow...0 -
Hey Notax, I did a simpathy crash for you on Tuesday night. Went over the bars and did the dart onto my head. Several people piled up behind me too. Oops. I finished the ride but my head, neck, back and glutes are all in pain now. It was quite the jolt. Thanking my helmet.
Hope your day was good today and you're feeling a lot better. Many happy trails!0 -
Thanks Timpop, sorry to hear you've also had a tumble
Did my first proper mtbing of the holiday today - on the blue and red Dowhills in Les Gets and then some single track XC stuff too It is extremely muddy here as it's been raining all week, we all look like swamp monsters! I took it easy and had no tumbles although neck and back have felt better....
Miss Notax rode really well, very impressed with how she coped with all the slimy berms 8) Final day tomorrow and hoping to ride into Switzerland - hope it won't rain yet again!0 -

Just back from a long final day in the saddle in Morzine. The promised sun didn't materialise meaning it has poured every day of the holiday... Conditions really awful but no one had any tumbles. Found a great section of steep rocky, rooty switchbacks which I really enjoyed - although I think my neck will be sore tomorrow :? Very pleased I ignored Dr's advice to wear the neck brace for 2 weeks and avoid excercise for 3, glad my only tumble of the week was the bad one!
I don't think we'll return to Morzine, I much prefer Verbier and Chamonix - quiet trails and extreme natural XC, rather than busy chewed up DH trails...but each to their own. Miss Notax's riding has certainly improved and she has built on what Jedi taught her - now a master of the slippery DH berms!
Talking of slippery, some parts of today's ride were so bad that our Swamp things ended up about 4 inches wide with mud and on one descent we had to use a Quadpod approach - riding with both legs as stabilisers
Hope it is sunny back home....0 -
Glad the tail end of your week was less of a disaster than the start!
We drew similar conclusions to you about the Portes Du Soleil region after our Chatel trip last summer (at least I think it was summer, the weather was more akin to scotland in the depths of winter) - seemed to us to be more and more increasingly DH focussed and less XC stuff. Verbier sounds like fun though!
Safe journey back and see you guys at a hopefully sunny Afan in a few weeks.0 -
awesome news! i'm looking forward to missnotax 's feedback0

However, it still draws in lots of people who are wholly incapable of riding properly. I just don't see the attraction in going somewhere where you are completely, totally and utterly out of your depth for a week.
Anyway, rant over that's probably not the case anyway.
Hope he gets better soon.
And you didn't warn me because I am wholly capable of riding properly, even here. So I don't really appreciate the sarcky comments thanks
he seems to be full of them at the moment...not sure what's wrong with him :?0 -
Pretty sure I'm not the one with a problem here. Seems to be a few people desperately wanting an argument.0

i have no problem with you mate if you were refering to me? but for a while up until last week (when i understand you may have had a telling off?) you were just being rather abusive, which isn't your clever, witty put downs that you usually come out with0 -

On another thread, I commented why I didn't like something, then all you argumentative "people", jumped down my throat.
Seriously, you need to take a long hard look at yourself.0 -

if you look at what i actually wrote, i said that he'd made a mistake he'd never make again, that he was an ok guy and that we should just move on. in no way did i say you were out of order. we'll agree to disagree on that one mate and won't hijack this thread anymore0 -
