As far as i can see it is a banned substance, he can continue to race until the results of B sample confirm positive, then he will be sanctioned. if B sample does not confirm, no action.
rider can comply now and admit to doping or request B sample analysis.--

Doesn't Team Katusha have the Clause in the Contract that all its riders agree to pay five-times their annual salary in the event of a positive doping test?
I remember Steegmans took them to court over it. Not sure if its still in their current riders contracts!
I hope he Kolobnev has a fair few quid stashed away if it is the case..0 -

Inner Ring say Katusha has fired him
Jean-René Bernaudeau is good value on this. He says it's a "cultural problem" in some teams, points out that Kolobnev is not exactly a medic, and must have taken it because someone told him to.0 -

They do, but it's utterly unenforceable so is not worth the paper it's written on.
It's a pathetic attempt by a dirty team to look like they are tough on doping.0 -
I've seen Rocky IV so I know all about Russians and doping.0

Very true, a shame really because you think the team would want to really discourage doping for the sponsors sake as well as the sport. But as usual the team will just sack him and say how disappointed they are in him.***** Pro Tour Pundit Champion 2020, 2018, 2017 & 2011 *****0 -

Hahaha. Why on earth would a mercenary collection of gas trading and transporting companies and banks, all impenetrably tangled with the Russian state, want their vanity project to give out an antidoping message?0 -
Sorry I didn't aim it all at Katusha. I just meant all these team doping clauses that riders have in their contacts that the team can't enforce.***** Pro Tour Pundit Champion 2020, 2018, 2017 & 2011 *****0

I was saying this over dinner this evening - we're due a positive or two.
Do people care about this one? Can't say I have any reaction to this - just non.

http://www.katushateam.com/2011/eng/mai ... news&n=736Alexander Kolobnev suspended himself
Team Katusha rider Alexander Kolobnev, after testing positive for a diuretic at a medical examination during the Tour de France’s first week, decided to suspend himself according to UCI rules, waiting for the B-sample. At the moment, Team management and the rider have no further comment. It has to be noticed that internal rules in Team Katusha say that the rider, if the B-sample also tests positive, he will be fired and will have to pay five times his salary as a fine. The President of the sport group Andrei Tchmil went voluntarily to the police, together with Kolobnev and his room-mate Silin, in order to translate and reinforce the fact that he and the team are not involved to the contested facts.0 -
He scored a 5 on the suspicion index, same as Wiggins and Contador.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0

He's a reasonably big name rider, not many wins but often present at the pointy end of a race. Hopefully it'll put the spotlight on this most shady of teams.
Tested positve for a diuretic but I bet his pi55ing himself now.0
