Just a thought, but maybe people would like to watch this evenings highlights without knowing that...

Please tell me this is a wind up.

I avoid Pro Race so I can watch the highlights without knowing the results.

why did you feel the need to share that with us, if people are watching it on TV they know it, if they want to know whats going on they'll read the spoilers or TDF website otherwise they'll be recording it looking forward to watching it this eve

What a f....ing bell end, starting a thread with that title. I've got bookmarked links to various of these forums to avoid the front page spoilers,; don't look at the BBC or newspaper sites through the afternoon to avoid knowing the score till the highlights are on, and then glance on here to see that.

You utter plonker. Thanks for nothing. Prat.

I was enjoying a discussion on another site the other day, a non cycling general sort of chat thread and the whole tone had been 'great isn't it', along with tips on how it works, who does what, why the winner doesn't have to finish first, all that stuff. And then some prat bounds in posting "Well done Cav. Cavendish has won today's stage".

There really are too many people around who can't wait to let the world know that they've been watching TV and can't wait to be first to pass on some info, without first engaging brain and pondering what their potential audience might think on being told the news.

Well done bob (I think you should change that first b to an n), here since 2002, I would guess you know the 'rules' about spoilers etc so why'd you do it?

Don't forget to also post a thread about the winner of the stage.

I burst out laughing reading that. The fact that the writer pretty much gives the game away with the first sentence but then really belt and braces it in the second is hilarious. I probably wouldn't have found it funny if I had seen it at the time though...

Years ago my Dad came home from working late - he was looking forward to seeing the highlights of an England Football match on Sportsnight or something. My twin brother and I were waiting up too - we were about 10 yrs old I guess.

    As my dad entered the house, the fiirst thing he said to us was 'Don't tell me the result of the England match will you'. I kept schtum, but my brother, in his excitement, blurted out;

"OK Dad, but Martin Peters scored both the goals!"

Classic. It's really hard keeping away from the news and results during the day, especially these days with internet forums etc. I avoid the issue by making sure I watch it live at work, but sympathize with those who cannot.

Come on then Beverick. where are you? Where's the title change? where's the half-ar$ed apology for the equivalent of walking in the living room and shouting "the butler did it", "he dies at the end", "England lost on penalties, didn't you know? I did. And I'll make sure you do too". Etc

Jeez- everyone really touchy about the whole spoiler thing today.

I know people like to watch the highlights and stuff - but let's face it - this is big news in the UK and no matter where you go today, people will be talking about it.

Will it really change your life to know before watching the highlights?

TBH, I'll still watch the highlights but it'll be from my hospital bed as I've just slashed my wrists.

I'm not understanding this thread. Everyone's upset because they wanted to go home and watch someone break their collar bone 'as live'?

    Strange.

Mistakes happen. Anyway at least no one mentioned that Hushovd has lost his yellow jersey to millar...oops.

    Strange.

I agree, it's just fake outrage.

Bradley Wiggins abandoning the TdF is history, what other bits of history do want shielding from?

Cobblers. I can avoid the bts of the net where I'd expect to find the result or news through the afternoon, leap on the bike soon after 5 to cycle home, arr about 6:20, shower, catch The Now Show on the wireless then watch either highlights or the as live stage whilst the family are out at Scouts / Cubs for the evening.

The BBC have managed to say Look Away Now for years. Is that because they want to avoid fake outrage? Too late anyway. Job done, move on, just another halfwit on the loose.

I think i remember your faux-outrage from last year....

I try pretty hard to avoid news of the stage but i totally failed today, as Pokerface says, it was everywhere!

Got to say, I'm amazed at the abuse being hurled at a bloke who posted cycling news - on a cycling forum!

"I don't want to know what happened, so I'll read a forum that's all about cycling and full of cycle fans."

Yet it's the OP that's the dimwit?!

Bradley Wiggins breaking his collarbone is not a result, so it's not really a spoiler. If someone riding today had dope tests come back positive, would one starting a thread have to put "Spoiler" in the title? No they would not.

If people had announced that Cav had won in the title, I'd have sympathy, but they didn't.
